Remote control (just incase you can't reach those few inches to the radio (I know the rear seat passengers aren't getting it!))

Because no one pays £30k for an E46 anymore, they can be had for peanuts and why would you pay BMW maintenace costs on a car that only costs a few grand?

Not disagreeing, I can see your point but there's the other side of the coin.

Let me put it another way. I wouldn't fit cheap tyres to any car.

There's a Vectra in the car park at work sitting on some brand new 18" alloys wearing cheap chinease tyres. The cost of the alloys would have paid the difference between cheap and decent tyres on the std alloys for the length of the car ownership i'd bet.

A case of prioritisation I guess, but when the only thing keeping you on the road is your tyres they're not something i'd skimp on. Would you put cheap oil in the engine?

Agreed - the price of the car isn't relevant, even if they can be picked up for peanuts, they are still designed to use a minimum spec of tyres, and you are comprimising the handling, comfort, ride etc by fitting cheap tyres. If your car is just a run around or you don't really push the car, then they can be ok, but why buy a bmw if not partly for these aspects of the car??

Yeah, but that seems to be more of a teething issue i.e. known fault in a batch of drives, which are going to be replaced. Granted, this completely falls under the category of reliability, but as it seems to be more of a one off fault that has been rectified, I wouldn't class it under long term reliability. Maybe Paul-N can chip in when he's get's his new drive and (hopefully!) is up and running...

i've got my problems sorted (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) John at car vision has been very helpfull with rectifing the problems i had and answering my emails quickly even late at night,he called me thursday afternoon saying the new dvd drives hadn't arrived as expected and offered me a new unit or a refund so opted for a new unit,which he sent out before i'd returned the old one,it arrived today (saturday) and it works ok.

does your unit have the see-thru/coloured icons or is it one with the blue/silver filled icons?

i originally ordered mine in June so i'm probably at the top of the list of getting one,maybe some of them passed testing like a previous batch did with just the one's fitted with the wrong dvd drive being a problem.
