Hi guys and girls,

I'm Sam (I see theres at least one other Sam here so Ropes is fine.) I'm 28, live in Swansea and work as a fork lift engineer.

I am a new E46 owner reacently picking up a bargain 53 plate 320d saloon with the msport package. I already love her to bits and she is 100% standard (for now.)

The car suffers from a touch of rust on a couple of arches and a slightly buckled bonnet. but yet to get it on a ramp and give it a real good check over.

Heres some pictures let me know I don't think she looks bad for 600 quid.

Hi

After 27 years driving ( and re-building) nothing but Mk2 Golfs I've got myself a manual Silver Grey 330ci M Sport coupe . 108k 05 plate with alu cube, black leather heated seats, factory satnav,  non-working headlamp washers, some sort of neolithic mobile phone interface and worn bolsters and rear arches starting to bubble.  Goodish service history ( Wooburn Green area) and oil filter housing seal and cam cover gaskets allegedly replaced but dont know if ccv, DISA, Vanos seals, expansion tank, water pump, intake boots or control arms have been done yet or not. From lurking on here and other forums I guess I'm going to hit some/all  of these issues - have I missed any ? Also any suggestions for for sensibly priced maintenance manuals, code readers or specialists in Bristol area ?  Cheers

Trevor

id get the rust sorted if planning on keeping it,,will have to cut it out though,,there are some sellers of rear arch metal..ive looked at them but the car is just not worth the outlay now,,had it 5 years and owes me nowt,,done close to 60k miles and it still drives great,,only wear and tear items..although mines a 330d and not petrol,,good luck with it,still one of the best looking cars on the road,,i also own an e90 330d but the e46 still wins on the looks and handling,,bith cars are mapped and fun in different ways,,always liked the golf in mk1 and mk2 guises,,after that they went down hill in my eyes..

Evening all.

Just picked up a '05 2 owner 70k miles 325i Touring for a (hopefully) reliable runabout to replace my Mini Cooper, far too small for the kids/dog.

Been browsing for some ideas for replacing the front bushes so thought I'd sign up.

Owned a 46 M3 in the past, lovely thing. The touring needs a fair bit of TLC but won't take too much to sort. Engine is sweet as a nut.

Hello, I have just bought my first BMW, a 2003 325i touring. Hopefully I will be collecting it on Tuesday. Just sat here worrying about all the things that I probably missed when looking the car over!

I will be maintaining the car myself, so will probably become a familiar face around here.

Simon.

Hi Everyone,

I am David, 32 years old based in Oxford.

I have an 03 E46 325i Saloon, had it for just over a month and it is the first car I have owned for fun instead of just commuting.

Had the wheels re-furbed, windows tinted, installed new cd player with fascia kit, new muffler 3" rolled pipes.

Still needs some TLC: Drivers seat needs a tear repairing and some rust inside both rear wheel arches.

Look forward to gaining some knowledge and picking up pointers from everyone's experience here :)

Hello!

Myself and a mate have bought a low mileage (56k) 325ci from an elderly neighbour that is in amazing condition, we're hoping to use it for occasional track days and the odd trip to the Nurbergring but I think we both love it so much we're not sure we can bring ourselves to thrash it round the track!

Already have a few technical questions which I'll (hopefully) post in the right forum!

Thanks.IMG-20181119-WA0007.thumb.jpg.d0a52b4df02863176938d870d595d8d7.jpg

Hi everyone just joined the forum. I picked up an unloved  54 plate 330d m sport auto in December. Ive changed the crankcase breather and thermostat, deleted the swirl flaps, egr and cooler. Replaced the front wishbones, arbs, etc so drives much better now. Still got decat pipe, glow plugs and controller, brake pressure sensor and a remap to do but getting there slowly. Looking forward to sharing the joy of continuously fixing something on my E46.

Evening all, I’m Ty live in Sussex.

just brought my first 330 but it’s not my first 46, or my first bmw. Massive e46 fan found this 330 and thought why not, as my little run around. needs someTLC so I’m hoping to make her as pretty as she was when she left the showroom all them years ago.

It’s a 330 auto in orient blue. I know what your all thinking “an auto” well like I said it’s not my first bm, I love a manual box (massive petrol head) but unfortunately in my opinion the auto box on the BMW’s are much smoother than the manual.

will add pictures soon

Hi guys,

my name is Jordy van de Ven and I own a BMW E46 318ci from 2002.

I am 17 years old and native Dutch. I work in machining and like to build things myself, especially on cars. I've always had a love for cars, but BMW caught my eye early on. As a kid I would always play with my BMW toy cars, and all of my family members drive BMW aswell so I think that is where the early love came from. From the moment I turned 17 I baught my first BMW, the e46 I currently own. Did some maintenance on the car, and I am now planning on swapping the n46b20 for an m54b30 so that I can enjoy the daily drive a little bit more. Also want to buy a second e46 for drifting, and maybe trade my daily e46 for an e30 in the future.

Hello Everyone,

I'm Kalman, 42, Architect, live in South-West London and  bought my first BMW last weekend, a silver e46 318 ti SE compact. It has some issues, as expected from a 92k miles car, with couple of previous owners. I'm just getting my head around the common problems, diagnostics and recommended garages. I plan to fix the smaller things myself, mainly the interior, but also want to get the car checked by a professional.

Hi, i'm Mark 49 from Plymouth

I'm picking up a pre fl 330ci sport next week This one

I've owned numerous BMWs before (e36 M3, 328i,  330d touring, 130i m sport ) and now after a 2 year renaultsport phase I'm back in an e46.

I was looking for a facelift one but they all seem to be snapped up by dealers and resold for £3k more.

The one I'm getting seems really clean, lots of money spent on it and I love the colour combo.

Eh up!

I've been meaning to join here for a while,  finally got around to it.

I drive a Sapphire Black 51 plate 330Ci convertible, which has just had two new wings fitted and a full polish.  "Brenda" has covered around 114k miles and is in very good nik for her age.

I've had her for coming upto 3 years now, and she's given me no trouble at all, apart from a smelly rocker rocker gasket leak which was easy if messy fix.  That said she's just decided she needs new front brakes as the NSF caliper is seized. Fortunatley I work for a motor factor, so my wallet hasn't been hit too hard!

Future plans for are for an xtrons head unit, have the trans fluid changed and fix the drivers side C-pillar.  Apart from that, simply enjoy the drive.

I had thought about fitting some kind of blower, but as I get "older", the need for speed is not as strong as it once was, and she's plenty quick enough to loose my license!!

Evening all, thanks for letting me join.

I'm Dean and I'm from just outside Cambridge, and the proud owner of a 2003 330i, it's not perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but I'm hoping to do a few bits to get it running/driving a bit better.

Hoping to get the info I need on here :)

Peace x
