Psyxologos
Hallo all. I was driving along today, listening to one of my CDs in my CD changer when all of a sudden the CD stopped and I got radio broadcast (just songs, no traffic reports or anything else). I have the MK4 sat nav system and screen, so I could see that it was my local radio station (aalthough I was 60 miles away from home and last time I listened to the radio it was a different station) but above the station name there was the indication 'alarm'. I could NOT switch back to CD, so I turned the radio off and on again. I could then resume CD audio. Any ideas what that was all about? Many thanks! Rob-
Your car doesn't share your taste in music and turned the radio on. sorry that wasn't very helpful
K1MBR
ive had something sort of similar before, i think its when a local radio station accidentally sets their broadcast to the traffic report, which interrupts your current media of choice, no idea why you couldnt stop it though. Frobius
Alarm is an RDS thing that allows a broadcaster to send out national emergency messages. Never heard of it bring used but it's like traffic that you can't turn off. Sounds like someone pressed the wrong button somewhere!
mit
When I drove to work every day I used to get this quite regularly in the Limehouse Link tunnel. It's basically because they've left the emergency broadcast system on. Car stereos (using RDS I think) are designed to override whatever is playing to play the emergency broadcast. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radio_Data_System http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emergency_Alert_System
