B&W Chiptune

Recommended Posts

So I popped down to B&W Chiptune (www.bwchiptune.co.uk) on dicky's recommendation today to have my mirrors set up to fold automagically via my remote keyfob. Turns out they can do a lot more than that. Here's a list of what I got done:

1. CANBUS Software updated to latest version.

2. Remote keyfob now folds and unfolds my mirrors. Whoosh!

3. Remote keyfob now opens and closes my convertible roof!!! - this functionality is built into the car and just needs to be programmed, so there's no need for those ebay remote roof modules!

4. One touch operation on my passenger window (previously it only worked when opening, not closing).

5. Indicators now flash once when I lock the car and twice when I unlock it. I also had the option of having it make a sound but I didn't want it to.

6. ECU remapped.

This isn't all they can do. They can also:

Set up your car to lock the doors automagically when you go above 10mph

Re-flash your existing LCM (Light control module) when many dealers tell you it can't be done (this doesn't apply to all LCMs but it does to a lot of them). This means you can potentially save yourself £300 on a new one when fitting LED or Xenon lights.

Re-flash an existing car's LCM so that it matches your car (as long as it's flashable, see above, so you can get one from a scrapyard or ebay if yours is one of the ones that can't be flashed).

Do custom engine remaps so for example if you are fitting an induction kit they can give you a map for that.

Jason (the proprietor) said he will do group buys for anyone from the forum, so if anyone else is interested and can get 10 people together he'll do a discount. He's a really sound guy and a BMW specialist. He's based in Hounslow (West London) so probably good for anyone in that area. They were featured in Performance BMW Magazine a while back, so I guess they are not just recommended by dicky and I, but endorsed by the magazine as well!

In total I paid £400 cash (that's including the remap which he normally charges £350 for). That was based on him doing a bundle type deal with the remap though...

I'd guess it's probably about £100 or so to get 2, 3 and 4 done without the remap, but give him a ring and I'm sure he'll negotiate a price with you

Standard charge is £350 not including the group discount, but if Colin from CNL is doing them for £200 then you're probably better off getting him to come out to you and do it really. I know not all remaps are the same, but let's face it, how different are they going to be?

Interestingly, I filled up my car with petrol for the first time since my remap last night. I filled it with regular instead of super, as the pump with the super on it was out of order. It used to be that my car had a big dip in power when pulling off in 1st gear, and this was slightly less noticeable (but still definitely noticeable) with super unleaded in the tank. After my remap, it was even less noticeable but there was still what I can only describe as a 'power wobble' as I pulled off. With regular petrol though, my car is super smooth and feels like previous BMWs I've owned. Weird, huh?

Hi,

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but this caught my eye as I'm looking into getting my vert re-programmed exactly like this.

I've got two questions:

1) Does anyone know if it is possible to make the vert roof close on holding down the lock button on your remote?

2) Also, as above, can you get the rear windows to wind up on holding down the lock button (I know as standard they don't because there is no obtruction sensor in the rear windows). Surely this would be possible?

Thanks,

Doug

a) depends on how much can get the remap for &

B) what do you want the map for, more power or more economy?

Either way I'd say do it, transformed my car!

What a thread resurrection!

There are quite a few threads on here about remaps but generally yes it is worth the money :)

Are you thinking of having it done a b and w chiptune in west London? I went to their garage earlier in the year to put a car on the rolling road :)
