Nef
After having my genuine BBS splits for about a month now and have noticed that a large number of the bolts are simply spinning in there holes and not tightening. Only noticed after one bolt actually came out whilst cleaning them, so checked each bolt and heres what i found. These are the number of bolts that are loose; Front Left 11 and right 2 Rear Left 4 and right 7 Not really sure what to do, but i can see this costing a fair bit of money to fix Any help would be great, Thanks Edited February 20, 2011 by Nef
autosri
i though they were nut and bolted using a special tool something like a 12 point spline bit

Nef
what BBSs are they? not sure on the specif style number of them Jorge, But heres a pic if it helps
jassi
Obviously someone has messed them up whilst refurbishing them, i have had my fair share of building bbs splits there's only one way of saving them which is to re tap each hole going 1 or 2 size up and buy new bolts with that larger thread pattern. The last option is get shoot of them, but I wouldnt fancy driving on them like that.
spawn
sounds like the threads are stripped? u best get a helicoil kit and quick..lol

pauly330
I think they're BBS RS-704's if that's any help to you!?

jassi
Normally does say it on some of the genuine bolts, best advise is when doing it seriously take your time it would be a shame to see these rims go to waste. Save them dude.
Jorge-
They look diff to 704s on Google... might just not be much info. I'd check what model / bolt size they take first.
DJ Syxx
They are Style 42's.
Jorge-
Do the bolts fix into the wheels themselves then rather than using nuts?
Nef
Do the bolts fix into the wheels themselves then rather than using nuts? Yep, Unfortunately.
pauly330
Sorry - RS-740. Which is the same as Style 42.
Jorge-
Ah right that sucks. is it the bolt thats stripped then or the wheel?
Nef
Ah right that sucks. is it the bolt thats stripped then or the wheel? Its the wheels that have stripped, all the bolts are fine. Edited February 21, 2011 by Nef
autosri
Helicils would bs best bet just make sure they are perfectly straight else the bolts wont go in properly
Dr T
Does this suggest that they have been over tightened at some point. I've got two of my BMW splits apart at the moment and it occured to me as i was undoing the bolts that i have no idea what the torque setting should be when tighening them back up.
