Aaaaaaaaah ok that makes sense.............so if the offset is ET40......is that 40mm wider than the standard alloy from the hub then?

No, the standard alloy will have an offset too, basically speaking the offset is the distance from the centre of the wheel to the face of the bolting plate, so all wheels have an offset, and obviously the wider you go the offset needs to change.

My rear wheels are 19 x 10 mate and the offset is et45, they are so close it is untrue. I rolled the rear arches just in case as well.

Mine are similar, mine are 9.5x19 ET35 - they sit just inside the arch, but look awesome as they fill the arch perfectly, just like yours ;)
