Hi guys,

Thought i would chuck a few pics up of my BM seeing as i have been floating about on the forum for a bit, owned the car for about 6 months now and is my first BMW, really enjoying the ownership coming from a Honda background.

Bought the car for a fairly good price from a friend of mine with a 120k on the clock, the one selling point being there was no rust and full black leather interior with the MSport package II, test drove and i loved it so had to have it. Done a few little bits and pieces since owning like the radiator, water pump and expansion bottle, brakes and a full service, maybe some other little bits and pieces here and there but have mainly just driven it since, also like how easy it is to work on theses cars and love the straight six!!

When i first got the car

Another full service and clean

Terraclean being done.

Another cleaning session, trying out some CSL reps and had a the GEO done, which improved the drive by a mile not that there was anything wrong with it before.

Hope to order up some new CSL reps with a little more offset and Eibach springs soon jut to give it that flush wheel to arch look but try to stay more on the OEM side of things and above all the practicability as this is just meant to be the runabout for me and not modify ha but we all know it don't stop there!

Thanks guys :) just really trying to tidy her up a bit and make it a nice place to be.

Going to do the dial rings on the clocks with the silver/ brushed aluminium rings soon and maybe paint the needles red but not sure on that bit yet.

imho I think CSL's look undersized, they have to be 19"

Although with a nice drop could be different story

I think with a drop it will make it look a lot better and some spacers to push the wheels out further but i really don't want to be going to 19" as i want the car to stay as a nice user able daily but if this was my pride and joy then it would be a different matter.

Looks good. Love the Civic too - always had a soft spot for the EK9, esp. the coupe versions!

Front lower grille looks like it could do with a refresh though?

Thanks, my brothers GF has an EK9 actually, nice cars but my EG6 is quicker :D

Front grill is silver from when the front bumper was re sprayed, in the flesh it looks good but in the photos i can see why you might think it needs a refresh.

I thought it was an EK9 from the photo - I'm not too hot on Jap model designations!

Ah, right - makes sense. How does it look with that much silver? I always thought the black broke the front end up nicely. . .

You don't really notice the grill isn't black, i think if the car was red for instance and the grill was also red or silver it would stand out like a sore thumb but with the grey on grey it kind of suits it as the black sticks out more on the stock bumper if you catch my drift. The fog light surrounds are back on which gives it a bit of colour back so not to bland.

Really like that civic, there's something about v-tec. I want to try one soon lol.

What's your opinion on the terraclean? Was it worth it, and more importantly noticeable?

Thanks bud, their a good fun B road car and revving it up to 9k is fun in itself but the best thing i love about it is embarrassing much bigger powerful cars :)

The only difference i have noticed is round town mpg i don't drop below 28mpg, and i don't drive economically either so its a big step up from before, on longer journeys (Motorway) the mpg is near on the same between 32-34 mpg so its made a difference to the that side of things as to more power, response etc.. nothing has changed from what i can feel, engine sounded a bit smoother after the clean but then it never sounded rough to begin with, think the placebo effect kicks in here but the onboard mpg shows its made a nice improvement :)

Not much of an update as i have just mainly been driving and enjoying the car for what it is but chucked the car in for its Mot, seems like only the other month it had its MOT but anyway flew through that which i was pleased with so to treat it i gave the car a good bubble bath and even took all the wheels off, up on axle stands and gave the underside of the chassis a good scrubbing to, cleaned up a treat and a bit of polish up on top :)

DSC06586_zpsb17b1963.jpg

5000 miles since the terraclean and the MPG figures are better then ever which is a nice result too :)

Been awhile since i updated this!

Since the last update i haven't done much to the car other than bits its needed like servicing, new alternator, fuel pump and level sensor and the other week i had to be recovered due to a seized rear calliper halfway on my journey home from Somerset  so with that happening it was a kick up the bum to sort all the niggles and start overhauling the brakes and suspension as the car is getting on and its sitting at 145,000 now.

Starting with my shocking state of a fuel pump. i removed it in this condition.

God knows how it got like that in the tank and both circuit boards on the pump and level sensor both split in half at the same time leaving me with no gauge but quick trip to BMW for the parts and i was moving again.

Since i had a seized rear calliper i decided it was time to overhaul the brakes on the car, so i ordered up all new hand brake shoes, clips and springs. New callipers and refurbished the carries. new spring clips for the callipers. new brake lines. EBC blanc discs on the rear and Brembo max grooved up front. Yellow stuff pads all round and fresh brake fluid.

So car in for the work

11811469_10153412701607752_1613961328003

Good clean up and new handbrake shoes and fittings.

11013562_10153413136867752_5980639136573

Everything made up and bolted on, decided to paint the new callipers to give them a few more years before the rust starts to eat them.

11811308_10153413140182752_8746424540757

Same for the fronts. I had previously fitted the front discs with pagid pads but i only covered a few hundred miles so they were good to go again.

11870889_10153413141642752_8440678327347

I use to have pagid discs and pads on the car and i never liked the stopping power of them, always felt you really had to stand on the pedal for them to work and even that was a short lived braking power before they felt like they gave up so never had much faith in them and in the wet i had the no brakes for 5 seconds moments on the motorway so wanted to put slotted discs up front for that reason.

Got the wheels back on the car and began bedding the brakes in and what a difference over the pagid stuff! Even with them freshly bedded in the braking power was a lot better with a better pedal feel.

Freshly bedded in.

11855879_10153422860742752_7867517761973

In between doing all that i gave the interior a good clean, over 3 nights i cleaned the leather with gliptone and conditioned it, seats came up really well, very impressed. Spent another evening cleaning the rest.

Looking and smelling like new

11694094_10153422662222752_3092145681915

Next up is the rocker cover gasket, mine has been leaking since i bought the car 4 years ago but has got a lot worse recently and the smell of burning oil every now and then on hills is getting worse so its about time, so another visit to BMW for the gasket.

After that is the suspension overhaul :afro: and get a few bits on the car painted including that lower front bumper grill.

Looking awesome mate

Why the terra lean I thought petrols were much cleaner anyway?

Thanks.

Main reason is a friend of mine does the terra clean for a living so cost me a couple cans to have it done.

Depending on the owner before you can still carbon deposit up a petrol engine. My Mpgs have been brilliant ever since, rarely do I go under 30mpg on town and motorway.

As requested ha.

I have done a bare shell rebuild on this car so every part is new using oem Honda where possible and a selection of decent aftermarket brands, no scrimping or bodgery found here!
