Mirrors move when unlocking car..

Recommended Posts

So, every morning when i unlock the car, mirrors seem to move to random position (52 325 clubsport). Everything was fine up until about a week ago. Two things that come to my mind which may have triggered this - some friends came over for a week, so was 4 people in car everyday with trip to France, so seat was moved regularly to let someone in to the back and then on the way to France, on the ferry, car alarm went off for the hole time due to waves (i guess) and battery went low, so car started little slow (only once) and now all seems fine. Can it be that one of these things triggered it?

This is really annoying, as even if i program all 3 seat positions the same, after unlocking and hitting one of the buttons, mirrors won't adjust to what it was programed on?

Any ideas?

Thanks

You can program the car to have seat and mirror positions for each key, and they move when you unlock it or when you put the key in the ignition (also programmable if I remember right).

You need a computermabob to program it. Independent specialist or local friendly zone member with the right software and cable.

Did you hand out multiple keys to your car? Some keys might be programmed but others might not.

Also don't forget to set the memory position on the seat again if you have electric seats. If you don't, your mirrors shouldn't be moving anyway!

Aaaahhhhh!!!!!

It's doing it again, constantly! I am losing my mind now!

Every time i come to the car (even after 10 minute shopping), as soon as I click Unlock on my remote, mirrors just move to random position (sometimes to the left, sometimes to the right..) and if i put it in reverse it goes to even crazier position.

Tried to disconnect the battery for half an hour yesterday as some suggest this to reset everything, but didn't help. Took mirror off and it all looks nice and clean, motor moving freely, no idea what to do now.

Please help me out guys, surely someone had this before! Driving me mad to readjust it every time i get in a car. Motor? Wires? Not powerful enough battery?

Ok, so one thing i found on countless googling was this:

"I used the P.A. Soft program to go into the ZKE settings and just unclicked the box for mirror memory. The mirror can still be adjusted using the control on the driver's door, but it no longer has a mind of its own."

Do you think that would be a solution or anyone knows any other ways?

Pikey solution in the short term: remove door card, unplug mirrors.

Do you have memory seats?

Edit, just read the first post. The IKE suggestion is defo worth a try.

Hm.. that's a lot of unknown words to me Chimp..

Anyone live in Herts who knows about this and would be willing to help? (long shot i know, but maybe..)

Where in Herts? I'm in Aylesbury, so near the border? If not I think 'My Car Hates Me' is in Herts somewhere?

In the coding section, there's a list of members with the software needed.

I would really appreciate it if you could! Don't think i can find anyone closer unless someone hasn't mentioned they can do it in coding section..

I work till about 5-6pm mon-fri, but weekends can do anytime. Can you pm me when i could pop around (with your choice of bee of course)? Really excited now as i'm hopeful this could fix it!

Plus i really want to see your E30 :)

I'd rather do weekday evenings, personally as they're generally less busy, but whichever is fine...

The E30 isn't here sadly :( If you want to see that, you'd need to wait a few weeks/meet up a second time I'm afraid as it's at the body shop still. Drop me a PM though and we can sort something out.

Sounds like your GM5 or memory modules might be on the fritz, or like has been said memory high has been enabled. Disabling the memory will remove the fault, but it's masking it rather than fixing it. I've got a set of memory modules which I bought for the bus that don't fit.

Do they adjust fine to memory positions?

Hopefully TriggerFish will be able to tell me more about it tomorrow..

And no, they go their own way when I select memory position on the seat. Seats are fine but not the mirrors..

Deffo, they'll just behave like non memory mirrors.

EDIT: does the N/S drop when you select reverse?
