E90 320d heating not working, help!

Recommended Posts

My dad is having trouble with his 2005 e90 320d heating,

The fan works fine it's just the heating

Recommended checking the temp (no dial) using hidden menu and the thermostat was clearly faulty, so that's been done, but whilst this has restored 90degree running temp it didn't fix the heating.

There are no blockages apparently, the pipes/matrix gets boiling hot , but still no warmth

So... Did a bit of digging and apparently the climate panel could affect it and they commonly fail. So tried a second (presumed working!!) but again hasn't resolved

Any ideas what on earth this could be ????????

No it's what prompted us to check if the thermostat was faulty but it wasn't working prior to changing the thermostat

Get a diagnostic.

Hadn't thought of that..... No errors, it has been in and out of a garage for the past 3 days

Turned out to be an auxiliary heater, not cheap! Diesels have a second heat source apparently as they run cooler,

Don't know if it applies to e46 but thought it might be helpful
