E36 Daz
The heater fan on my 330 doesn't seem as powerful as it once was.Compared to the girlfriends Mini one it's like a breeze versus a gale. Do they deteriorate with age or could it be the hedgehog resistor playing up ?
SlamE46
My first guess would be the Hedgehog. I've had to change mine on both E46's that I've owned

TriggerFish
final stage resistor.google final stage resistor e46 there's a 19 min video on how to do it on YouTube. Must be sped up! Trying to find that bolt was the hard part, otherwise it's an easy enough job, although I'm glad I did mine in the summer as it's not something I'd want to tackle in the cold! SlamE46
Here's a good 'How-to' http://www.diablo944.co.uk/Hedgehogimageset.pdf I got lucky on both of mine in that someone had done it before and, thankfully, left the hidden torx screw out. As TriggerFish said, wouldn't want to be doing it in the cold!
jcjdavis1
Hi. Try your local garage as mine only charged me £50 to fit one (too cold to try myself). Jim

There absolute brilliant now ive changed it though! Its easy enough putting it all back together.. Uve just got to lie upside down with ur head at the pedals for a while! Lol.. 1 of those led torches that you put on ur head helps alot aswell! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
E36 Daz
Further to my initial query. The symptons as of 5 minutes ago,I'm getting warm air blowing thru the eye level vents but cold air down at my feet ( at the same time ) with the controls set at 20 degrees. Is this further indication of the hedgehog ? Oh and another thing, sometimes when I get in the car after it's been standing, usually overnight, the temperature on the display is different to how it was when I left it. E36 Daz
I bought a hedgehog off Ebay and had a go at fitting it a couple of weeks back but couldn't get on that hidden torx. I should have percevered as the blower has now packed up completely and I'm off down the motorway to the airport later.Looks like it'll be 1st job when I get back from my travels

Its best to have a long thin torx bit. http://www.e46zone.com/forum/topic/41708-final-stage-resistor-how-to-replace/page-2 E36 Daz

That's it ! I do use both keys as one is on a large bunch I use during the day and the other on it's own if I go out at night. Thanks mate, saved me buying parts to fix a non existent fault lol
