Indicators as DRL's - US spec

Recommended Posts

Ok, so today I tried messing around in NCS expert, so I could turn my indicators into a dipped running light just how the US car have.

I have done the trick where you pull the side light bulbs out, which gives the error on the dash, but when you put main beam on (2 clicks to the right) the indicators turn off. I basically want them on all the time.

I tried setting the following line to active

DRL_BLK_VORN_GEDIMMT

also found another line

US_MARKERS

but setting that to active didn't work either.

Has anyone been able to get this to work in ncs expert?

Thanks

A z4 forum, a user has changed settings in the LCZ module to this

DRL_BLK_VORN_GEDIMMT = nicht_aktiv
DRL_BLK_VORNE_2_GEDIMMT =aktiv
SIDEMARKER_US = aktiv
DRL_DIMMUNG = Wert 02
GEDIMMT_BLK_BEGRENZ_LICHT = aktiv
BLK_DIMMEN = aktiv

Unsure if it will be the same for the E46 though.

Here's the settings:

DRL_DIMMUNG: wert_01 to wert_02/3/4

GEDIMMT_BLK_BEGRENZ_LICHT: nicht_aktiv to aktiv

SIDEMARKER_US: nicht_aktiv to aktiv

I really want to get my NCS working so I can do this... Sound hella interesting

Edit: Coding in general, not just the indicators as DRLs lol

A pikey solution is to unplug the side lights. (Will need side lights on. And will flag dash errors. Just a thought until ncs is working...)

Done that but as Mike says, as soon as it switches to dipped beams they turn off again

I've done the same, but I've cheated and wired in a module which does the same thing, on a constant glow, but blink like normal when using the indicator. No error lights.

They are not very bright in the day, but looks boss at night :afro:

Thanks. Will give it a try. Must admit I never changed the value from 1 to 2. Maybe it was that

Tempted to try this with the led side indicators. Tried the side light bulb out. But due to th4 angel rings being wired oddly. Only one side work.

This is what I used when I used to have it switched on.

The way I did it was go to the scrap yard and I went to a punto popped side repeater off and got the bulb holder and pulled it and got ad much of the wiring out as I could. Then drill a hole just big enough fir the bulb holder to sit in snug and wire to sidelights.

one was last night and I was cm away from hitting him

I guess they see indicator on whilst they glance over and then they go

Haha thats funny but I've never had that yet, had my ambers on as DRL's for around 8 months now, maybe because there's more sensible drivers in Milton Keynes lol! Edited by Billz

Certainly better than the people around here IME!

I've had people flash hazzards at me before too, usually it's not a problem.

Where I live that happens on a day to day basis regardless of indicator sidelights lol
