gaz-777 Report post Posted November 9, 2015 Shame it's gone mate, but I've been there too for a mortgage. Glad it's gone to a good home and hope the Alfa is reliable for you.
bennno2005 Report post Posted November 10, 2015 Shame mate looked tidy.I share your pain I had to sell my DC5 to fund the house - worth it in the end though Did you get good money for it?
MRyan Report post Posted November 10, 2015 I know guys, it was fairly heart breaking watching it drive off not as bad as when the Clubsport got written off though! The upshot is I made a good profit on it vs the Alfa which has gone into the mortgage fund, and my running costs are much lower already - around town I'm managing a mpg in the low 40's driving sensibly. The Alfas a great little car too, its like a go kart compared to the BMW due to the small size of it and a fairly quick steering rack! Being an Alfa it naturally has niggles though when I bought it, it was a little rough around the edges but had a lot spent on it mechanically at an Alfa specialist. The first job was replacing a cracked rear light, and then tie wrapping an airbag plug under the passengers seat to fix a warning light - which made me laugh. I've got a driver door checkstrap to fit, and it needs droplinks at the front but then its golden - the parts are uber cheap compared to BMW ownership but they'll also probably last half as long.Long term if I stay happy with it, it'll most likely get lowered on a nicer set of wheels - and I'm hankering for some garish red leather to replace the black alcantara inside the cabin at the moment. Note to self, must get some better pictures this weekend!I'll probably end up in another BMW in a year or two though, I'd love an E90 335i once I can spend proper money on cars again! Fitz2282 Report post Posted November 10, 2015 (edited) I considered the same selling my bm to fund house deposit but didn't think I'd get a great deal for it plus if you buy something on the cheap could be a money pit, so stuck with my bm knowing it was solid, but now I have my house saving for an m3 but I'm sure the missus will have most of my money spent on other stuff!!!! But having looked at what yours sold for I can see why looks like you've made a small fortune there!!! ? Edited November 10, 2015 by Fitz2282
The_Judge_ Report post Posted November 11, 2015 Hope it went to a nice home! Looked good at Blackbushe, but you should have got a 330d lolSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
MRyan Report post Posted November 11, 2015 Pahaha, yeah that was the work of my friends bidding! I sold it early and couldn't cancel the auction so they went ballistic spamming it.A 330d may still feature in the future if I stick with diesels for now I wanted a little change after 3 e46s. I wouldn't mind an E60 in the future after having a sit in a friends mapped 530d, its a lovely beast.I'll bring the Alfa to the next meet though! 1 The_Judge_ reacted to this
