Edges
Hi, I'm eventually back in a E46 after almost 3 years away. I bought this in april 2012 from Jay on here; Which looked like this when I sold it; I then had this for ages; Then I sold that and this week bought this; So a 53 plate facelift 325ci, 113k on the clock with full dealer history. No rusty arches, no modifications, few bits that need tidying. Really happy with it!! Paid £2,850, is that good/bad/average? I'm wanting to do some changes to the looks, like clubsport splitters and bootlid/spoiler, black grills and smoked side repeaters. Is there a way of smoking the front indicators? On the inside I'm quite happy with the black leather but may have to change to suede at some point. In the centre console it has the old style phone dock system with a blank plate in the at the mo.. Is there a way of changing this to work with iPhone. I've no idea how its wired up!! I really want bluetooth for phoning and some connection for music. It has a tape player at the minute :/ Also wanted the Harmon Kardon system but this doesn't have it. How much parts are needed to retro fit HK? Thanks, welcome all comments... Please be constructive though The Laird

Up for 4k now but the blokes done a lot of work to it and fitted cream m3 interior :/ But yeah really happy with how clean the 325 is, wanted another 330 but couldn't find a good one in budget! mRd
You can get Harman Kardon off ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-e46-3-Series-Coupe-Harman-Kardon-Sound-System-Full-Set-Kit-Cheapest-price-/261948497003?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item3cfd58dc6b
allan k
I wouldn't go fit the harmon Kardon mate for the hassle that it is with all the wiring can get a good crossover kit for front speakers put sub and good amp in and will be better than harmon Kardon and less hassle
Edges
So does that mean I can't just change speakers and head unit? I'm not very good with in car audio but went in my mates i3 with HK and it sounded amazing so want something similar! Also don't wanna break the bank with it lol
allan k
You can just change the speakers but won't sound as good with out running amp
Edges
So I got the car on a ramp at work for a check over, 3 shock absorbers are knackered. Couple rear brake pipes could do with changing as could trailing arm bushes and front wishbone bushes. Had a look round subframe mounting points and there's no visible cracks but I can see surface rust and under sealant coming away. This means I now want to remove the subframe and clean it down rust treat and under seal it properly. Are there any plates I can buy to weld in as to strengthen the floor? Don't want to cracking! Edges
So after finding plenty of bits to do under the car, yesterday it gave me more issues; Accelerating onto a duel carriageway, lost power and got eml on. Turned of and on again and it cleared. Came back again after a few minutes. Randomly cruise control stopped working too. Code reader showed p0303 misfire cylinder 3. Most likely coil pack would people say?
Edges
Oh and cruise control randomly started working again 15 minutes later :/
The_Judge_
Nice car, but sounds like a few hidden issues. I say all the problems will go away once you remove the M badge For bluetooth and stuff, if you're not precious about the oem unit, just buy a decent after market stereo and use its bluetooth to sync the iPhone. Alternatively, middleground are some kits which connect to the wiring behind your existing stereo but you'll get annoyed with this, do you have controls on the steering? Then, there are more complicated options, which keep the car oem but cost more .... I removed my old car phone kit. What you'll probsbly find is its pretty basic. Mine was wired into the back of the stereo and there was a small speaker by the passenger footwell. Then it was getting power straight from the battery in the boot, the wires run behind the steering wheel, and along the side floor trim, through the back seat to the battery. Not sure there it's much you can do here to make it iphone compatible short of somehow making a home made aux with the existing wires. Anyway, sounds like you have some fun maintenance to sort out first!
Edges
Haha the M badge did well to last as long a it did, washed the car Wednesday and removed the s**t badge!! I do kinda wanna keep things OE so been looking at those double din 7" screen set ups. £220 ish will have to wait till I've sorted the mechanical issues first! Will probably just change the centre console bit for one with cup holders or the storage and sliding cover bit. I'm also really keen to drop the suspension a little with some nice wheels but again, maintainence first! Thanks for the info though pal!! Jay.
lot better than buisness HU, yep all plug & play, just need a climate control relocation panel if your fussy about the fitting of it
Edges
Well that's the first issue fixed, bosche coil pack from euro car parts £16+vat. Changed spark plugs while there which made it more expensive but while the pollen filter bit was out might as well.
