avalaugh
Done some searching but results. Who uses what pads with stock callipers? Car is basically a stock Clubsport Was looking at yellow stuff but don't think they're going to hold up! Anyone used the blue stuff ? The Ferrodo DS2500 have not held up for me at the Nurburgring Using Mintex discs. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
R11CH
Due to the weight of the car yellow stuff pads and ds2500 are out of the question upfront they are a road/ light duty track pad. I would have said along the lines of ds3000 up front with ds2500 in the rear. I have used carbotech, carbone lorraine, ebc blue stuff and the ds range in evos, Celica Gt4 and my civic track car all been superb pads just finding one to fit the bmw but you will get horrendous brake dust that eat the wheel paint and that horrible squeaky squealing noise
avalaugh
On my 2nd set of pads now out here, cracking out consistent 9.55sec laps with traffic and the odd yellow flagged section, it's going well but I need brakes to get better. Have Bedford GT circuit booked for November so gotta get something sorted. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Edges
My only experience with track stuff is a suburu 400bhp Impreza and lots of 2 litre clio's. Suburu was great with yellow stuff, a friend had orange stuff which were pretty epic but dusty and squeally on road. Then got clios and ebc were crap, blue weren't too bad though. Then carbon Lorraine rc6 were nothing short of epic but didn't last long. Ds3000 aren't quite as good but a bit cheaper and are decent. avalaugh
Thanks. I've bought a set of blue stuff now for the front and rear, will see how they fair. Spoke to a brake specialist here in Germany, there are lots of other/better options but most will squeal a bit and I don't want that. MRyan
I'd be interested in this, I was about to try DS2500 so I'll hold off on them! Ive just finished my second year at the ring using stock brakes both times, which is always hilarious (terrifying) and I'm eager to sort them out. Brands is also looming! Edges
Id be interested to hear how blue stuff go on these, I wouldn't go ds2500 though, can't imagine they'd be enough to cope with ton and a half
Tamworthbay
If you can get Mintex in 1144 compound then they will be ideal. They are a bit noisy for road use (squeal like hell when cold) but a brilliant track day compound.
MRyan
I was going with the DS2500 after my friend used the DS3000's in his M3 and gave them a good review! I can only find DS2500's for the 330 unfortunately. Blue stuff sounds like the next port of call
avalaugh
The Mintex 1144's didn't hold up on my Starlet and that car was light. I'm doing Bedford GP circuit on 2nd November so will update on the blue stuff [emoji106] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I have used them on loads of cars without any issues and know a lot of guys who use them in various formulas. I had a set on my 944 turbo at the ring and that was thrashed to fook all day without a hint of fade (unlike the discs which warped). avalaugh
Yeah I agree they have a great write up, just used it for trackdays. They were Wilwood calipers up front with Wilwoods 1144 supplied pads, could of just been a crap set. My mate had a Megane 225 with them too and they too left all sorts of material on the discs though ? avalaugh
Well I have had the Blue Stuff pads in for 50 miles so far. They bite nicely from cold, I do have a slight squeal from the rear when braking slightly. Hopefully will go once bedded in properly. Will update again after some more miles, and again after Bedford GP in November. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
avalaugh
Got 200 miles on the pads now, the fronts are feeling great, as are the rears. However, there is a humming noise developed that is unbearable. After a bit of research I found this from EBChttp://ebcbrakes.com/articles/rear-brake-noise/ I'm just hoping after the trackday on Nov 2nd it will have gone. If it's not I will be trying a different set in the rear as its just too loud it street use. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Woody155
Hi I've had no issues at all with my ds2500 their a bit noisy when hot though! They have lasted 2 ring trips so far I must not be trying hard enough! Have u got any vids of your ring laps?
MRyan
Are they still biting nicely when they're hot? The GP track will be a good test if they're allowing access whilst you're down there, lots of heavy braking from speed. If they're doing well I may still just get them, at the moment I'm still using the random cheapo ones which are ruined from the ring and its horrible. I've got a couple of videos if you're interested from a recent trip, fastest I recorded with the camera was a 9:10 - the sounds been removed annoyingly because I had some Frank Sinatra playing
Woody155
They still give a good bite when hot for me, however I normally do 2 laps then come back in for a breather. Have you got an external mic for your camera? Yours sounds like an m3 compared to mine on video! I've not had the chance to drive the gp track yet but it's on the to do list! I think last weekend tf was the vln layout, which would be nice to drive. Nice driving btw how many laps have you done so far?
MRyan
Thanks mate! It's just the exhaust I've got fitted, its nice and subtle when not gunning it, but it really lets rip once you get on it I'd recommend it to anyone, only problem is its only sold over in the US which is a pain. I did 5 laps on that trip, not too many because my brakes completely died - they're just random Mintex ones at this stage so not built for track, I wish I'd spent more on brakes and tyres. I'd done 4 laps on a trip last year which was my first time on track ever, so I was pretty slow! Nice driving too - are you still out there at the moment? Whats the setup on the car? I can't wait to go back, but it'll be next year now. Edit - Just noticed the date on your video, you were there the same time as me! avalaugh
I managed a 9:55 with heavy traffic, still waiting to get hold of the videos off my mates go pro Woody just watched your lap, very tidy. One of my problems is I trail brake a lot, used to do it all the time on the bikes, and still do now, so they get hot Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Edited October 21, 2015 by avalaugh
MRyan
It'll be good to see them man! Love watching some nurburgring laps. Yeah its always going to be a struggle with the big heavy e46's I think, regardless of pad choice to a degree.
Woody155
I wish I was still out their! I got their Saturday afternoon to catch the vln and stayed till Wednesday would of been good to try n keep up for a lap if I'd spotted you. My car is standard everything at the moment bar pads and brake fluid. Roll on 2016 for the next trip. Does anyone know if you can get endless pads in the Nurburgring compound for a stock 330 calliper?
Woody155
Cheers avalaugh weekday evenings are best for traffic! on a busy weekend it's rare you get clean lap, unless you get up early.
avalaugh
Well today's trackday got cancelled, event called off due to extreme fogSo for now the rear pads are coming out until the next one in the new year. Will update once I get them on track.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
avalaugh
Ok the blue stuff pads now fully bedded in, the noise from them on the rear has gone [emoji108] breaking force and consistency has been great on and off track. But they've now shagged my discs with the extra heat generated Heat cracks appearing all over them.
