E46 320d Complete Loss of Power - Lot's of Codes

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Recently the car has been playing up, very erratic rev's at ~2k RPM and incredibly smokey (Black / Diesel). Yesterday i drove to Oxford & Back about 180 Mile round trip, upon reaching Oxford, the car lost all power completely and wouldn't push itself past 2.5k RPM, no audible turbo whistle could be heard.

After leaving the car for a few hours whilst shopping etc, we left to head home and the car was fine until about 15 mins onto the motorway, then the exactly same happened.

No CEL was displayed throughout.

After getting home and reading the codes i'm presented with this:

3F35 Input Air Flow Control at Idle Speed

4191 Charge air pressure controller, activation

41E7 Lambda Sensor -Open Circuit

3FF1 Air Flow Meter

4298 Lambda Sensor

Along with Cyl 1 & 2 Glow Plug Codes.

Now, 3FF1 & 4298 have been on the car for a month or two, so the rest are new and must relate to the problem. I've been reading online that a new turbo acuator (or a new turbo probably) might be needed. Anything i can do to try and resolve this myself? Can be the actuator be cleaned etc?

Previous owner seemed to think the turbo had been replaced by the owner before him sometime last year, however no proof.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Alex
