sdjfaulkes
Finally got some pics of my new 330 so thought I'd start a thread. Bought the car about a month ago, mechanically it seemed very well looked after with full service history (mostly BMW, 11 stamps in the book) and a folder full of receipts and all old MOTs etc to back up old work and maintenance. However it looked like it hadnt been cleaned for years, the hood was in a bad state with lots of mould and paint looked dull and very dirty. The interior was in good condition but again just filthy. But after a trip to Dream Detail, run by a very good mate of mine, and two days worth of cleaning, she's come up really well. The wheels still need a refurb which I will do after the winter but the paint is in excellent condition, not a spot of rust anywhere and the hood now looks good as new. sdjfaulkes
This is what the roof looked like when I bought it... in fact, it had already been washed once by me and a lot of the surface 'green' had come off, but there was still a lot of work to do... sdjfaulkes
I want to go for an OEM + look with the car. When I bought it it alread had: - staggered CSL wheels - OEM m3 electric folding mirrors - OEM m3 rear view mirror - angel eye headlights Since buying it I have done a few small bits; - replaced alloy wheel centre caps to original blue/white BMW - replaced the carbon look 'M' badges to original BMW blue/white badges (on the steering wheel and the alloys) - upgraded the number plate lights to LED - added M3 strut brace - changed the side reperaters to smoked/black to replace the original ones which had gone yellow - fixed the heated seats - fixed the glovebox (which didnt open without using the key) Plenty more to do - more pics to follow. Cheers, Steve Edited January 6, 2016 by sdjfaulkes
gaz-777
That looks like a really nice example mate. The guys did a great job cleaning it, the M3 mirrors are a nice touch too.

Lee who runs the business at DD did a really good job. He used to run a mobile valeting business and 2 or 3 years ago took a lease on a unit in Farnham and launched the detailing business. If anyone is in the Surrey area and wants a proper detailing done, he's worth every penny. I wish I had better pics of what it looked like before. the other big plus - he shares a unit with a company called 4 star classics, which is useful if you're feeling flush or looking to kill some time. Thank you sir. Appreciated. That's a good idea - so with the aux plug in the loom behind the radio, which channel does this run through? There's no AUX mode as such on mine, just the radio, CD and changer? assume it replaces the CD changer somehow? Why didn't you keep the original iPod lead? Just to keep it neat with the cradle etc? If it replaces the CD changers then music should play when its connected and you have it on CD mode. You'll need at least 1 CD in the changer for it to work though. I used to have a similar thing on mine but found the cables didn't last long so sacked it all off for an OE style double din head unit with Nav, bluetooth etc etc.

bennno2005
Depends, my head unit didn't have a separate aux mode hence why it replaced the CD changer instead. If yours has an AUX mode it will be that instead.
sdjfaulkes
also, where did you get the cable from? have found this... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-3-Series-E46-E39-E53-X5-2002-2006-SAT-NAV-AUX-Input-3-5mm-Jack-/290957633573?hash=item43be6d2825:m:mULaPyDg8aJsf5ZmL0Hq9Nw

If you unplug the cd multi changer in the boot you can use the cd input for the iPhone/pod but the navi head unit will think it's playing CDs , no listings just track one two etc ... if you take your head unit out there's a little plug taped to the loom about 3" from the blue plug that goes in your radio. unrap the connecter only an inch or so and when you plug your aux - 3.5 male /female pending what you are doing with the other end , once that's in your radio with add a AUX page to your menu screen. THE LEAD, on ebay there's 2 types of plug, one has 3 pins for the aux and one looks like it's got 6 pins, 6 pins is I believe a cd replacement plug for the standard buisiness radio, not your navi unit. hang on let me find the right lead and I'll put a link to it,

Either way, can you re-post the link, if your's is good and works would be useful to know which one it is. Thanks mate

The reason is this, I can't stand things in or on my car that is not standard, iPod lead in glove box ,cd multi changer but does nothing, exhaust flap vaccume hose disconnected so the car sounds throaty all the time ( drove me mad ) . my snap cradle fits my iPhone 4s ,charges , makes calls , and when wired to the aux will play music. No wires,no leaning my phone on the ashtray because there's nowhere els to put it. Nice and purposeful and neat. On a iPhone the sound coming threw the multi plug ( for a speaker dock ) Iv been told is digital and won't work ,I need to get some kind of converter for it to act like a digital to analog converter, I might be wrong to be honest but I'll let you know if it works on the cradle or not. on Amazon have a look at these, I put mine on a wile ago, really nice I think, Bmw want £££££ for them but on there ..CKS BM01-4604-BK Kidney Grill Gloss Black what do ya think? Makes perfect sense, little touches like that make all the difference. yup that's the lead I was looking at, not sure whether to go for a female or straight to male jack but either way looks like a v.good solution. Cheers. I ordered those grills from CKS on Sunday - they're on ebay for £10 less than the amazon price, free delivery, let me know if you need the link. Though they're a different shape to the pic you posted but I'm sure you know that already.

sdjfaulkes
for anyone that might be interested, I now have iPod/iPhone connectivity in the car Connected the aforementioned cable to the spare AUX plug at the back of the headunit, which i managed to access via the air vents (no removing the whole screen/unit etc.) and ran the cable into the drivers side glovebox/sunglasses holder where I installed the female AUX input. I havent seen it located here before but it looks smart, very inconspicious, and I mount my phone that side of the car anyway (for Waze when not using my nav) so it made sense to try it this way vs installing in the centre console... more so i didnt need to remove the headunit, the heater controls, the handbrake, the gearshift etc etc to run any cable. Took less than 30 mins, cost about £12, the sound is excellent - all in all a good job. The klang
