devils_advocate
Hi My E46 has mv1 alloys, 18 inch but I have no space saver! I am guessing a 16 inch one would not work well and I need a 17 inch one? I have a 325ci They are going for £75+ on ebay which seems steep. It's a shame I couldn't just buy an mv1 wheel and have a full size spare as it won't fit where the space saver goes. avalaugh
Look under the plastic bit in your boot that looks like where the space saver would go, there's probably already a space saver there. The guy I bought my car from said that there was no spare, I opened the boot, lifted the carpet liner, span off the retainer cap, lifted up the plastic and said "yes there is" He had called the AA twice in his ownership with punctures lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
berts
I have a full size spare alloy in my car, I just got rid of the plastic trim that's in there and it fits
momo
Also pretty sure 16" would it a 325 17" is for 330 and above
devils_advocate
I did lift up the boot liner thing and saw an empty space where I figured the space saver would go so I don't think its there, will double check tonight! My concern is whether its ok to run 3x 18" wheels and a 16" space saver if I ever get a puncture, would the car drive ok on that? avalaugh
By the sounds of it you've not gone deep enough into the boot. Regarding 16" saver, remember that the tyre profile will also be larger compared to an 18" tyres profile. And you only do 50mph with a saver fitted, it's a get you to a garage wheel, not drive around for days on it thing. momo
Exactly it's all about the rolling radius - not the rim diameter. Lift the black plastic tray - it'll be under there.
