330CDT
Hi all, just me wanting confirmation quickly (likely being a donut ) Cars going in for a service next week, asked him to check the crankcase breather (by the time he's done that may aswell bung a new one in - no record of it ever being done though you would hope so. Not worth the risk though.) I said I'd get the parts... so.. I have the option to get the Vortex breather and complete breather box assembly for £60, Or just the vortex insert/filter replacement for £30. I guess I have no option other than buying the £60 one just incase the old loo roll style is fitted to the car? Does anyone know if the vortex was fitted as standard in 2004? Haha. Just don't want to waste £30 on something I don't need, but if needs must I will do haha ! Cheers boys!! Tom
momo
Could get them both and return the unused one? From experience - it SHOULD be the vortex one.. But not always! A member on here had a 2005 'vert which had the loo roll type.. 330CDT
330CDT
That good sir is good thinking! Thanks. I didn't even think of returns option as I'll be buying from a BMW dealer (Hereford) - I guess I could post back to them? Or even give it to my local dealer? Lol. Hmm. Thanks will ask ! momo
330CDT
Going to get a couple of service items myself too, Air filter and Pollen filter. On Euro car parts, Bosch or Mann? Thinking of just getting bosch all round there's pence difference. Also found a website called carparts4less which is essentially an exact copy of ECP, just cheaper. Really good reviews too. £28 for both with a discount code I found, can't grumble at that !?
momo
CP4L is well known on here. They're pretty decent! Can't go wrong with any of those manufacturers for filters.. 330CDT
330CDT
Sweet cheers. Read a ton of good reviews on them. Seems they are just ECP but just online so offer it slightly cheaper. Code: 'Carcloud' gets you 11% off. Also if you have a quidco account you get 10% back! Ridiculous haha. Going to cost me about £25 for both. momo

scott-o
You dont need the cover, just the insert itself, both fit into the same cover. Mines a 54 plate and had the loo roll type. The loo roll type is fine as long as its changed, i still changed mine to the vortex type though.
330CDT
Nearly forgot to update this. You are right scott-o. BMW specialist said he won't need the full unit/part unless the housing is cracked on the old one. Anyway, he got to it and the loo roll type wasn't fitted - a vortex style was in there. So It's got a brand new one now anyway. Good job done / checked for peace of mind! Sending the full part back for my refund now lol. Cheers all.
