MRyan
Right so it was an eventful saturday, coilovers were installed and I whipped off the DISA valve to refurbish it with the i6 automotive kit! The DISA valve wasnt in bad shape once I'd actually removed it, but the pin did pull out super easily and it was making a racket before which prompted me to do the work. Random picture of it while off the car - Once that was all done it was coilover time, I went with HSD Dualtechs once again because I really rate them - although if I have to buy another set I'm seriously going to kick myself lol anyway, the lowering went totally fine and took only a few hours - until a few hours later we had a look at a rattle from the rear (loose collar), and decided to just jack the car up quickly on the grass. Which resulted in this - Idiots, lesson learnt etc! Luckily damage was very minimal, with a bit of heatgun action the sill is 90% the same shape as before. Anyway, lowered pictures - I need to raise the rear a bit and lower the front a bit, and also get those bloody wings resprayed...but here she is currently - Edit - and yes my rears need spacing! Ruesta
Looking good mate. I have an i6 DISA on mine, good upgrade and nice n easy. Lucky escape with the grass jacking though, you could've been injured had you been under car! Edited August 14, 2016 by Ruesta
MRyan
Yeah I know, my friend was messing around in the wheel arch and felt the disk brake nudge his foot as it started going! He rolled back and then it went, not good. At least everyone is unscathed and the cars fine really, but it can't happen again.
BeemerGaz
Hi mate, Firstly stunning looking car and I love the colour...but then again I would say that as it's the same as mine. Anyways I wanted to ask a few questions about the grills... 1) Did you sand them down first 2) Did you use primer and 3) Did you use rattle cans and if so what was the make? Those black grills look the dogs danglies and really set the front of the car off...I don't mind mine being chrome coloured but I still think that they look best in black. Cheers mate. Hawk
Good result on both the coils and nobody getting hurt. The car's taking shape now for sure, it never ceases to amaze me what a difference a drop makes add in a set of wheels (you don't need to) and it transforms a car. Like you said, rear up, n nose down and you're jammin. I went to lower the front of mine yesterday as I had the wheels off but they were seized and I couldn't be arsed skinning my knuckles! 😂😂 Keep up the good work! Thanks very much mate! I did indeed sand them down first, I can't remember the exact grades but I went with a slightly coarse one to start and then a find one to finish. I then put a few coats of primer down, followed by the gloss black then lacquer over the top - I just used the paint from Halfords in rattle cans. 16 hours ago, Daz 330 Cs said: Wow, yes a lucky escape indeed. My friend at least wasn't under the car, just by the wheel arch adjusting the coilover collar. More news on the car, as the 'ring is two weeks tomorrow its been getting more work done! Monday/Tuesday it was in at my local mechanic getting a new clutch, gearbox oil and diff oil - it feels lovely and smooth now. He did comment that my linkage was getting worn and the prop doughnut could do with replacing in the near future, but other than that it was fine and the old oils didn't reveal anything bad. Its now in for an alignment, then brake fluid and its ready! Before it goes I'll take some pictures just in case it gets crashed (please god no!) - It'll be interesting to see how it compares at the ring against last years 330 coupe with the SSG on the same suspension lol
MRyan
So Germany is tomorrow! The most important piece of prep is naturally having a clean engine bay I'll let you all know how she fares vs the SSG last year, and the Clubsport the year before! I imagine not as well with all the extra weight and chassis floppiness

MRyan
So we're all back and Grape lives on Great trip as always and I really recommend folks go to the ring if they ever get the chance! The 330 as always took it all on the chin and got to Germany on a tank of fuel despite all the silly convoy driving and autobahn routes - I managed to keep the top down until the last 100km because I burnt myself so badly! The convertible was obviously fairly heavy in comparison to last years Coupe, I managed a 9:20 round the track which is 10 seconds slower than last year which I'm happy with - it actually didn't feel too bad when getting pushed about the track other than slower acceleration and just being heavier on the brakes. I ended up doing 5 laps, by which time the front brakes had a paddy and that was that. The weather was great leading to a busy track at times and we certainly saw our fair share of crashes too unfortunately - one of which being another E46 in our group that went into the armco. Anyway a couple of pics and videos for anyone bored on their Sunday - Firstly my mate who is far too tall for E46s in general... And just to show how dusty it was with solid sun all week, this was the car on the third or fourth day - And a video or two, including a Focus almost hitting me before going into the barrier a minute later jamesfoley, R11CH, gaz-777 and 2 others

avalaugh
It's people like the driver of that focus giving the ring a bad reputation, that could of so easily involved all 3 of the cars. Nice laps by you [emoji108][emoji106] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
MRyan
Thanks mate! Yeah not seen before then in the video was his awful behaviour for ages not letting anyone past, when I did get through he then immediately almost hit me on Adenau First when the video starts to get infront again pointlessly lol silly man! gaz-777
I've really got to do this one day, glad that focus driver had what was coming to him! Looks like great fun on the ring, thanks for sharing with us 👍🏻
MRyan
Thanks guys, and its definitely worth a trip - its cheaper than you think if your cars in a fit state to do it already!
MRyan
As I'm on my last week at my current job and very bored, I've been going through all the Facebook pics. One of my mates caught the aftermath of that Focus - Its a rental and I have no idea how much of that the guys liable for, I assume the rental company has some manner of insurance? Couple of nice pics from various drives too because why not Loving how she looks in the pictures! I need to not do what I did after last trip now, there can be no selling of the car to buy stupid Alfa Romeos. MRyan
So a bit of an update, I started a new job with a fairly long commute so the cars currently in a filthy state and ruining me for fuel. I've decided to keep her and not go down the diesel route as of yet though. The current project is a black interior conversion - I purchased a mostly complete black interior (minus some trim pieces, and the rear roof panel - so I'm on the hunt) to install. The idea is I'll just swap everything over minus the carpet and dashboard as they're a bit daunting. So they will be dyed in place! I started this saturday by just tackling the dashboard itself, I guess the carpet will be next weekend. So heres the end result, its come out well but a tiny bit too shiny -
MRyan
Right so some updates! The black interior is more or less in I need to sort out the rear bench a bit, and the passenger seat electrics are being a pain but I've got my beige seats to plunder for parts when it ever stops raining lol I'm requiring tyres soon so I'm either shodding the Schnitzers in a 235/35/19 to replace the 235/40/19 so it has the correct rolling radius again, or possibly looking out for some dishy wheels on swaps. Other than that shes cracking on - some highlights: Random photos from the interior change featuring an unhappy mate with a bad back, sorry I'm a bit crap at remembering to take pics - All stripped out - Then all done, and dirty somewhere towards Bath - And finally, after a clean today! So yeah, tyres soon - sort the rest of the interior little bits out. Then one day the wings maybe Ruesta, Mk2majik, RichS and 5 others
MRyan
Right, interior Rev 3 I promise this is finished after this! Two tone, all the surrounding trims black including the carpet and dash - but the door card centres and seats will be cream! I've managed to do the rear seats today - RichS, Stewart Hall and ibrahimx2001

MRyan
UPDATE, the cars a state. However the interior two tone bits are very almost complete! I have the door cards all done, the front seats have been swapped back in which is nice as the electrics all work perfectly on them too. I just want to put the black seat backs & bases on them, but all weekends are now dedicated to Christmas things so they've been on the back burner a bit - hopefully over the Christmas break I can get this sorted. Door cards split - Waiting for the tigerseal to dry - And voila! I do still think the seat backs and trims need to be black too, to tie it all in - the bases are a pain to remove though! On top of that, the lock button on my key has stopped working - and the spares completely dead. So I think I've discovered where the next bit of cash will be spent... ibrahimx2001, andreyb and Ruesta
