Do I have xenon's?, outer halo ring not doing anything? Help!

Recommended Posts

Hi all. I bought a 330d a few weeks ago, still trying to figure things out on it. The guy I bought the car from said it has xenon's. But I can't for the life if me get the angel eye ring to come on. A few pics of bits that I presume are the xenon's?

Looks like aftermarket xenons in reflector headlights (they'll be awful for anyone driving towards you). Certainly not factory fitted I'm afraid.

Angel eyes were never factory fitted to the e46, so they're aftermarket too.

Ta bud. They do the moving up and down thing when the lights are turned on. Pic of the lights....

They all do the moving thing - it's a system test, I think. Have you got a levelling wheel insdie the car, by the light switch?

Those pictures defo show projector lights though, so that's interesting! Run the chassis number through this, and look to see if reports xenons:

Blimey!, looks like original owner went to town on the options lol. No sign of xenon's though. Rain sensor??, how does that work. It rained today but the wipers didn't come on on their own?, broken maybe :Phttp://i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y384/dubfunk1/Mobile Uploads/Screenshot_20170529-225001_zpsxiqza0yv.png

Auto wipers should work when the stalk is in position one and you can adjust their sensitivity with the wheel in the stalk. They can be turned off though using coding software, then the first position will just be intermittent wiping.

I see you're from Aylesbury TriggerFish. Small world, I work there :)

No idea what a dummy salpa is - most seem to have it though. I think I read somewhere it's a manufacturing thing, and not a feature as such. That's a pretty nicely spec'd example though!

Yeah? It's pretty crappy isn't it! Look out for a lowered and loud (straight through :D ) imola red 330d saloon and you've found me!

P.s. Auto reason sensors aren't on by default even if the stalk is in the right position. Each time you turn the ignition on, you'll need to take the stalk out of position one, then back again.

Not with my coupe, I just leave the stalk in position one all the time and my wipers come on when required.

Hmm, ok didn't think it worked like that. Both saloons I've owned have been this way - very annoying! Unlike the other cars, I've owned... I always thought it was some   BMW "safety" feature but clearly not!

How strange. As far as I remember my 328Ci was also the same as my current 330Ci, just left the stalk in position one all the time.

Maybe its coupe specific??? I can see why it would be annoying having to switch them on every time you start the car though, sort of defeats the idea of auto wipers! Auto, but only if you turn them on first :-)

Both on my 330d saloons have needed initialising each time - this can be by either putting the stalk up one notch, or by flicking the sensitivity sensor on the stalk itself up then down. Either of these causes them to do a 'calibration' wipe on the screen, from which point they're automatic. Without that, they're just 'off' if you kill the ignition with the stalk in automatic position.
