Foxsake
I will need some new tyres soon, they currently catch slightly on the rears. I was wondering what size i need to go down to. To achieve a tyre stretch - which also hopefully reduces the walls catching the arches. Sizes in use currently - Front - 235/35/19Rear - 265/30/19 Thanks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Foxsake
You're gonna have to tell us how wide your wheels are!Not too technically minded, never had to change the tyres in 4yrs of ownership. How do i find this out?Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
momo
Maybe post a pic of your wheels if they're OEM or link to the ones you bought.. It all depends on width of wheel and offset (how far the lip sits away from the hub). If it's only slightly rubbing it sounds like 255/30/19 will work. momo
It's usually stamped on the inside of the wheel, generally on either the hub or one of the spokes.. Are they OEM wheels? I can't tell from your avatar pic..
mjn
Genuine 19" Alpinas? Aren't they 8.5J and 9.5J?

momo
They look like genuine Alpina's (air valve under the central hub cap, I can't see it in the pic anyway)? I think they might give you the dimensions/offsets on the front side of the hub under the centre cap?

This is only removed with a security key and then you can access the Valve/Locking Nuts.I will have a look later tonight or the weekend.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Daz 330 Cs
I'm not surprised you're getting rubbing, a 265/30 is too wide. Even an M3 only uses a 255. As above, a 255/30 will be better, it will be a slightly lower profile than a 265/30 as well.
Daz 330 Cs
Ps. A 255/30 on a 9.5J rim isn't even a stretch.
Foxsake
Think the wheels may have came off E39. They were bolted on when i brought the car. Here is the centre cap information as requested, i think i will have to take the wheels off to get the size.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
mjn
No, the sizes will be on the wheel under the cap you just removed. I would try 255/30/19 on a 9.5j alloy. momo

Foxsake
I think the fronts do slightly catch on the inside at full lock?So a recommended size for the fronts too please.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
momo
Basically go 10 narrower on both front and rear.. So 225/35/19 front 255/30/19 rear The profile is a percentage of the width so will be slightly lower profile (not enough to knock out the speedo so don't worry there). You should have more clearance all around that way.
mjn
225/35/19 and 255/30/19 are perfect for 8.5j and 9.5j The speedo is spot on.
