incredirog
Hi I’ve installed some cheesey led side repeaters and they work but they remain on and dimmed under various conditions. I believe as the car is running continuity voltage through it to check for a blown incandescent bulb. Eventually turning fully off after around 5 minutes when the car goes to sleep. I’ve played around with the voltage coding options in Carly but it hasn’t made any difference. I also have the usual INPA, Navcoder, NCS expert suite of software at my disposal. So the question I’m asking is, are the options/function to turn off bulb checks on the PC software the same as the Carly voltage check option? If so I won’t spend an evening trying to get my 15 year old laptop to talk to my 15 year old car! Thanks
incredirog
Haha always talking to myself! It’s too cold and I couldn’t improve on the Carly result which did have an effect I was able to stop them strobing on startup. I’ve ordered some 50W 6ohm piggy back resistors, and some slightly higher quality cheesey side repeaters. Hopefully one of those will work! jamesfoley
I know P.A Soft BMW Scanner has the options to change the bulb checks, I had to use a combination of BMW Scanner and SSS Progman to do my rear LEDs on my old pre-facelift. Might be worth picking up BMW Scanner as I found it a lot easier to use than any of the other tools.
TriggerFish
When I had LED front indicators, I used PA Soft (NCS can also do this) to disable the bulb checking (check control, hot and cold checking). They worked perfectly, until the LEDs gave out!
incredirog
The 50W6ohm resistors did the job but it’s a bit of a bodge. Luckily you can splice it in to the wires on the unit and not the vehicle so I can go back to factory whenever I lose my appetite for cheese. Thanks for the input.
