330ci How do I find out if known problem areas have already been addressed ?

Recommended Posts

Hi

I am a recent and slightly apprehensive new owner of 108K, Silver Grey 05 reg 330ci M sport coupe that spent last 5 or 6 years around Wooburn Green area.   Apprehensive as although my car has decent  Insp I/Insp II service history ( and no sign of subframe cracks) I have no idea if any of the known problem areas I read about here and on other forums have been addressed - I'm thinking Vanos seals, CCV, expansion tank, radiator, water pump ( you probably can add to the list - not too many please!! ).  No such records.   My normal approach would be replace such things as a precaution with good quality bits (meyle or lemforder when I had Mk2 Gti's -guess they are good for BMWs too)  when convenient to me (rather than wait for failure) but parts are quite pricey for that approach.  obviously I can monitor oil consumption for CCV ( and oil filter housing/valve cover for leaks) but is there any way to tell whether other troublesome items are original ?  are there date stamps/codes somewhere ? how can I tell if steel or plastic impeller ? Thanks for any help

.. in meantime off to work out what all those buttons do...

Cheers TC
