TwinTurbo
I have just bought an Alpina B3 Cab, very pleased with it except the steering. I have had several E46s before, but have never experienced such poor steering. New Pirellis up front, correct pressures, suspension seems fine, but the car does the following: Will not track straight, wants to head for the side of the road. On flat good surface roads needs constant input to keep it straight. Needs more input from the steering than normal. Steering feels stiff. Any ideas as to what is ruining an otherwise great car. momo
Sounds like FCABs.. While parked up grab the wheels at 3 and 9 o'clock and try pulling the wheel back and forth. Should be no play but sounds like there will be. But if it feels like the steering is coming from the rear and you're constantly having to re-correct to go straight then it'll be RTAB's.. incredirog
worn steering coupler? I replaced mine and it reduced these symptoms, didn’t cure them, I think the wheel size/weight plays a part.

I presume that FCAB are control arm bushes, but what are RTAB's Thanks momo
momo
Sorry.. FCAB - Front Control Arm Bushes (sometimes called the lollipop bushes). RTAB - Rear Trailing Arm Bushes.. The RTAB's sit at the end of the arm that goes out in front of the rear hub assembly into the body in front of the rear wheel well.
