Jespersallander
Hello, i have a -02 320i E46 and i have a problem with an annoying wining noise coming from the engine bay. This noise is constant and even gets worse when i accelerate. And for some reason it stops whenever i push down the clutch. Have anyone else run in to the same problem and knows what the problem is? E46Driver330Ci
A winning noise is good. It means you are very fast. But if you have a whine, then that's not so good. May be the clutch is worn and slipping as you drive. It slips more and gets louder as you apply more power. There are some tests you can do like putting it in high gear from stand still and see if the engine stalls. Something like that, you will have to go search for the precise procedure. If the clutch is still ok, then may be something connected to it is worn out. This center of the car stuff is beyond most people can handle with their domestic tools. You will have to go find a shop to do the diagnosis.
