Steven.R.White
HI All. i have some what a question.. do E46 M3 wings fit a E46 320I SE touring ? if so im thinking of doing a M3 Homage on a E46 Touring platform.. including at M3 Engine etc.. can this be done.. before you ask i don't want to buy a Genuine E46 M3 as i like the both the shape and the practicality of the E46.. so can this be done ? costly i'm sure, but that's not the point of the post i have never really followed the crowd as i like to be (original/different). any help on this would be nice. im braking a 330D msport so have some bits Thanks Steven Edited May 13, 2021 by Steven.R.White
momo
No, completely different shape. BUT, they can be grafted together! This guy on Instagram has built a full E46 M3 tourer, with the M3 engine. A few pics there show the graft lines: https://www.instagram.com/p/CBgcz0jJC_C/?utm_source=ig_web_button_share_sheet
Steven.R.White
i have another question.. since the conversion to a M3 Homage is likely to much effort time etc etc.. here i go with this next question HI All im new to the forum.. i have a techical question.. i have a E46 330D msport (4door) that im dismantling ive had it 8 years but failed its MOT.. (2003) plate. i have recently bought a E46 320i touring (2001) plate... since i ave everything will the 330d engine go into the 320I and if so how much effort is it ? Thank you Regards Steven
incredirog
will it go in, yes. is it worth the effort, no. you will have to change the entire fuel system which is a layer of work on top of all the other jobs. What did it fail the MoT on, I bet it’s easier to repair that than swap a diesel into a petrol car. Easiest swap will be a bigger petrol engine 2.5 2.8 or 3.0 funded by selling 330d parts from the car you are stripping 🤷🏻♂️ momo
momo
I think you'd have to swap everything - engine, gearbox, drivetrain, fuel system, electrics, ecu, brakes, everything! Not worth the effort at all.. Bigger petrol engine? Probably. If yours is the M54 2.0ltr then I think it makes it more straight forward. The 330i engine is a variant of the M54. incredirog
