Them buying me this:
My old man has a 3500 SD1 and I've always wanted one tbh, and he saw this and bought it for me, random as hell but gotta say im very made up!It's a 2.6 and it's auto, but it looks very very clean. Plus my dad having sd1s for the last 30 years means he has a few spare v8's and manual boxes kicking about, major win!Plan is to v8/manual it, get the vitesse bits on it, some different wheels hopefully use some adapaters as the stud pattern is 5x127 and its hard to come by decent wheelsit will be purely as a 2nd car/show car and come in handy for when i bend the 46 drifting it.heres a few pics of my dads too for an idea of how cool they can look with little work. -
not today but on sunday i messed about with my car, albeit unintentionally.
Drove to Blackpool saturday night hit the mother of all potholes and bottomed the front end out and cracked my expansion tank. Not having the number for my breakdown with my insurance to hand, their website being useless and them being shut i had no way of getting it recovered.
I had a spare expansion tank at home in Stokport, so I got bladdered got the train home the next day went to work 13.00=00.30 then got the mrs to drive me back up to blackpool with my expansion tank, fitted it in the pissing blackpool rain in a car park and realised it had cracked because it dislodged the bottom of the rad and pushed the tank into the pulley, so re fitted the rad and all that jazz and off i went.
got home at about 03.00
fun times.

Good pics man, too many air ride queens tho for my liking
Did you get any pctures of Huxleys Celica? only saw one with all the decals removed and it looked badass.
-
ahhh im in stockport mate. i could find out if it fits though and then see about doing some sort of swap? i can cope with my car being off the road for a couple of days.
-
I'm not too sure? where are you from? if it's not far could always meet up swap them over and see?

Hi, I've got a 330cd with short shift already fitted when I bought it. It's the b&m version.
Need to take it out as my g.f can't select reverse as it's a little harder than standard lol
Is it much work to put back to standard?
i wouldn't imagine so, when i did my clutch it was relatively pain free to remove the gear linkage, if you put it back to standard let me know if you sell the b&m one i'd be deffo interested!
-
I the z3 won't work as I've just had to take it off lol.
As for the z4 I'm just relaying what I've come across. Don't go for an eBay one. Had one for a while but the collar on it snapped.

Sweet, this is the exact sort of info I'm after. People with first hand experiences of it all.
Ebay cheapo out of the question then looking back at that picture of the various shifters. Do you reckon you could get away with the z4 3.0 as its a bit shorter than the z3m one or do you think that will still have issues?
-
Went for a B&M shifter when i had my E46, I also have an AC Schnitzer SSK in my M3 Evo and a cheap £30 ebay jobbie in my track car. All of which are much alike only the ebay one was a very tight fit, oh and the ACS one comes with replacement selection rods.
How do you find the cheap ebay one? Part of me is thinking that for the price it's gotta be worth a bash.
Would be interesting to know where the e46 rod sits in that line up tbh.
Hard to draw a conclusion without knowing.
I know, it would be helpful
z3m will hit the prop and will not hold in reverse. i think a z4 is one to go for.
bottom end of the e46 shaft is very close to the ball, close to the z4-2.5 one listed above
That's the thing though, the E46 is like stirring porridge IMO so I want one with a longer lever below the ball pivot to reduce the throw. The Z3m does look rather long like it would hit the prop but then the Z4 looks like it would make bugger all difference apart from reducing the length of the gearstick in the car.
-
I know this has been covered quite a lot, and I have searched and browsed various forums with no general conclusion.
so I was just wondering what the craic is. what have people (if any have) fitted to their cars on here, and how do they find them??
Now I found this picture on here,
and it looks like the z3m would give me the shortest throw, albeit with a bit more effort putting it into gear (which I don't mind)
however, I've also read on here that people have issues with them catching on their props? but I cant seem to find anything more about this other than what people have "heard" on here.
I've looked at B&M kits and they seem to be stupidly expensive, and then there is ebay cheapo's which I'm usually all for, but I've also heard a lot of bad things about them.
So what do people use on here? I'm after something for my 330ci as the gearchange is ridiculously long tbh. Which is no major issue now, but if I start to give it big slipwheelz It may be a pain in the arse.
cheers folks, and again apologies for going over old ground.

Fitted this lot
Went to Anglesey for Drift Matsuri. Awesome Awesome Awesome, been getting the itch to run a welder again for a while and Matsuri was the final straw, mines getting welded next year.
hope to get it off the road over winter, weld in subframe strenghtening kit, strip it out, bucket seat, hyrdo, etc etc etc maybe some of these arches and some pokey rims.
Some nice beemers there, really loved this m3 powered tourer! was driven like a boss too.
and heres a little vid (first edit ive done) of my mate taking me out in his 14. lairy,

i wouldnt bother
id get a good 18v battery gun they will get most bolts undone, should piss a subframe off they undo or wheel nuts in work that are torqued down to 670Nm
we use air tools in work ive got too many and theyre brilliant, however trying to run them on home compressors is pointless as they dont have the guts. can get about 2 quick bursts from my airgun if that. We have a fairly large compressor too. to buy a compressor good enough to run airtools properly its probably cheaper to get a snap on battery gun.

few pics i took from BDC, in desperate need of a new camera and lens. the d40 is slowly dying on me.
-
I thought they were 6.5?
-
i wouldn't be concerned but i would be aware.
the CPS could be failing everynow and then, mine does it and has got a lot worse over the last 6 months. Flatspots a lot and sometimes hardly wants to move when you put your foot down. Other times it runs fine and absolutely flies.

yeah, ive always liked them my Dads had about 25 of them since I was a kid. Had a big smash in one in North Wales when I was about 3 months old and one guy died (the guy who pulled out causing the crash) and the other cars were trashed yet we all came away unscathed, so I think thats partly why he's stuck with them.
haha very!
They do sound sweet the v8's
aye, not bad for an old girl and considering the size of them
haha ah well there's always the house
got a fair few years yet they've just turned 50 so sod inheritance for now.
Awesome, my dad used to have an ex dibble SD1. It was white and he got the cosworth blue/grey/white tiger stripes put onto it (sounds grim now but was awesome early 90s) ill try and find a pic
it was bloody rapid though, I know when he sold it to buy a vitesse as he'd always wanted one he was proper gutted/ The chap he sold it too had a twin plenum vitesse and he said this ex police one was miles quicker.
