Stage 1 - EGR Valve Cleaned

Recommended Posts

Whats up PSN. I have recently joined, and have enjoyed all the posts that I have viewed. I recently took on the task of cleaning the EGR valve on my ride. I want having any issues with it that I knew of, if that makes sense? I purchased to EGR valve kit with new bolts, o-rings, etc. So, I pull it out and MAN was that thing pretty filthy. After I got it out of the port there were chunks that were falling off of it in my hand. Once I cleaned it up, I inspected the o-rings and determined that they didnt need to be replaced. So, now I have a kit for the next time I do it should anything be jacked up. After putting the valve back in, I do the standard road test...And I was actually surprised to notice a difference. I uploaded a few pics of the before and after, and although they are pretty much identical, I wanted to make sure I had the best detail in the pics as possible. Thanks for all the help PSN.

So, why dont more people delete the sap? Does it truly act just like an EGR setup? On my old 3000GT, I removed the EGR and saw mpg go up. You also have a much cleaner intake tract. I know you would throw a ses light, but still. Just curious.

Delete makes more sense, and in 184 engine it doesn't throw an error light :) but maybe some people like to keep the car original as poss.

I bypassed my egr and it did throw an error light, but I just got the error mapped out by Simon at emaps, no problem. Massive reduction in exhaust smoke now that the egr is disabled. Should never have been fitted in first place, stupid eu regs innit.
