Fraz
Hi need to replace the drivers seats e/seat control panel. Does anyone know how i remove the seat surround to access the panel. I have found an obvious screw attachement( where the circular cut out is on the surround in the photo) but i still can't remove it completley - still attached? must be another screw but i can't find it! thanks for any help in advance Fraz
simonlpearce
Most likely there is one hidden behind it, the way i usually locate these is to pull on the outer part slightly until you can find the point where there is little to no give then trace it from there. Just make sure you dont pull on it that hard that you break something.
Fraz
thanks will give this a try - i tried the pulling technique and was abit concerned about breaking it. Trouble is it's a bugger to see underneath. If anyone know the location of the screw that would be a great help. Marcus
iirc there 3 or 4 torx headed screws on it..sounds silly..easier to remove the seat to get to them. i think there behind it..or you have to remove the trim front first to access the wires and connectors

Deezer-D
Disconnect the battery first before removing the seat or you'll get an airbag light and it's a trip to the dealer to get it reset. Move seat back to get access to the front bolts and loosen them off. Move seat forward to do the rears. Disconnect battery and leave for 30 mins before removing the connector under the seat. mit
OMG I had to replace my cover ages ago when I first got my car and from what I remember it was really easy, but I can't remember for the life of me how I did it! I managed to figure it out in a few minutes with no manuals and just the BMW screwdriver though (I think) so you should be able to work it out??? Have a look at the part on realoem.com - it will show you the shape of the part and you can probably see where screws go in from there
