simonlpearce
Its very fair of them to say this and it is possible to remove the valve completely, however there have been cases of the clutch cable being a little more taught and causing a knocking noise when not putting something in place of the CDV. Will_c
errm is it not hydraulic??? God, so there are companys out there that dont try and rip people off at every possible chance! top people them!!
muly
yeah it is a hydraulic clutch, but i think simon means is the hose that the cdv is attached to can be a little tight if you just remove the cdv, i removed one altogether on my last e36and there was still enough "play" in the hose and my e46 does not come with one fitted

Neil_S
Is the CDV only fitted to certain models? Is the only sure fire way of telling by getting under the car? My first to second gear change is a bit sloppy on this car and wondered if I had a CDV causing me issues. I've got a 2004 330i Sport Saloon. I've got some ramps and intend to change the clutch and brake fluid, but it'd be nice if anybody can confirm either way the presence of this valve as then I can get on an order a replacement. JC 330i
you shouldnt need a replacement if you have one just remove it and screw the pipes together without it
Bahnstormer
Hmm, interesting stuff! I thought it was my bad driving lol. Think I might give this a go while the car is still in the air.
Gaz320ci
hi i am just wondering if my 2001 320ci would have a cdv?
Quiksilver_TR
Nice. Defo going to look for this and look at removing it as, I like a few others thought it was my "bad" driving causing the jerky 1st pull off and 2nd gear change. Top. Quiksilver_TR
Does anyone that has removed their CDV still have the part they removed? And would they be willing to post it to me for some beer tokens etc etc. In particular looking for e46 325 ones, but from what ive read the insides are the same its just the outsides that are different. Thanks

I have the one I took out of my 325 somewhere, will have a look later, but if I am honest it could be anywhere. I want to see what the "parts" inside are without taking mine off and also get a deleted one made at work to fit to my car and the other halfs car. Which to do that I will need one to take some measurements from whilst keeping the cars mobile. If you have that would be great. Thanks
B0B
The deleted valves were just to fool BMW warranty people, they serve no purpose at all if your car is out of warranty. Crimp the clutch line with a pair of mole grips, take the valve out and have a look. I just took mine out and connected the hose back up without it. There were no moving parts inside it, it is just a like solid bar with a small hole in the middle which causes the restriction/delay.
Quiksilver_TR
Both the cars are out of warranty but It would still be nice to put a delete valve in, so that I dont have the risk of the rattle from underneath or any extra stress added to the hose. (too tight to buy 2 @ £80 odd from the recommended company, lol!) I still might just connect the hose directly tbh though as getting hold of an Old CDV is proving difficult. autosri
there is a moving part inside of it all you need is a m10x1 male taper on one end and a m10x1 female on the other thats all mate i removed mine and the hose was plenty long enough
B0B
I did this to mine today, the difference is brilliant! It's a good mod to do. I also bought an adjustable clutch stop and that improves the clutch action even more. It was only 8 quid from the bay of e.
Ozz 318ci
The company listed doesn't supply one for a 318ci, I hope this doesn't mean I don't have one and that there's an issue with my clutch or worse, my clutch is fine I just have terrible clutch control haha. My clutch makes a little noise, nothing bad when I press the pedal down. Can anyone point me in the right direction to get a CDV delete for my 318Ci if it has one? Any help appreciated, thanks guys
marc l
I'd like to know if the 318ci has one too. I had a quick look ages ago and it seems not. If you find out any more mate can you post up here. Cheers Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

dooge
Looking on eBay they have one listed for all E46s fitted with one except the M3. I dont see why, if you didnt measure the inner diameter of the tubing or the ends, that someone whos handy or who knows an engineer couldnt get one made up for next to nothing. There is very little material, it is basically just a tube with two threaded ends and the correct length. I think drilling one out isnt going to be so easy, but with the right thickness and diameter of pipe it would be relatively easy.
James B
Just done this on my car, didn't use a special delete fitting, just connects the two pipes up again, this and a clutch stop makes the car so much nicer to drive Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
