simonlpearce
TBH 1-2 and 2-1 are usually quite nothcy on E46's anyway so it may not be your driving style or the CDV, although i certainly found it helped.

Stan 24v
It doesn't and that was the first thing I thought when I found it wasn't there Just a word of warning if people pick up a rattle if they don't use one If its not needed then what does it get replaced with guys or how do you mate both pipes together?
simonlpearce
Basically the pipes just screw into each other one the CDV is removed its hard to explain but if you have a look underneath you will see what i mean.

player6
when i tow with my touring would it help if got rid of the cdv then i would get better clutch bit or not
simonlpearce
I wouldnt expect it to make a big difference to towing, its only really noticeable when going through the gears fairly quickly, not something i expect you do when towing something Unless of course your on top gear and are trying to break the car/caravan distance jumped by fifth gear. player6
lol i was thinking when im move my car trailer about at low speed useing the clutch like when backing up
simonlpearce
Its basic role is to slow the engagement of the clutch down, so it may help a little but i doubt you'd really notice it that much. Worth doing for those spirited drives though, and wont make towing any harder thats for sure.

matsoki
This was one of the thinngs that was starting to pee me off, so I thought I would order one from Zeckhausen.......... Placed the order, then got this e-mail, canceling it. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Dear Chris Zeckhausen Racing ------------------------------------------------------ Order Number: 5415 Date Ordered: Thursday 30 April, 2009 The comments for your order are: Chris - You do not need this part, since your car is no longer covered by factory warranty. Thus, you can simply bypass the existing CDV. Our modified part would only be necessary if you were trying to hide the face that you "tampered" with your car from the factory service technicians. The following link will provide step-by-step instructions for removing your CDV: http://m3.madrussian.net/diy_cdv.shtml. This is for an E46 M3, but the tools and techniques are the same. In fact, your car is easier, since you don't have those annoying plastic panels to remove. I have taken the liberty of canceling this order and voiding your credit card charge. If you have any questions, you can simply reply to this email Dave Z. Your order has been updated to the following status: Cancelled If necessary, you may update your order directly by following the link above (login required). If you have questions or comments, please reply to this email. With warm regards from your friends at Zeckhausen Racing ------------------------------------------------------------------- So when Ive got 1/2 a day I am just going to removed the thing................... Yeah it does say this on their website somewhere. I ordered one from them last year - not sure why but I feel more comfortable having the modified part in there rather than just removing it! Keith
Great write up buddy, good work That emal is bizarre. What profit-driven company in the world would go out of their way to cancel an order from a paying customer, who has chosen to buy a product? Bizarre

muly
Just remove it altogether, pointless paying for an extra part when its not needed, mine does not come fitted with one standard
