Number Plate Delete Trim Fitted.

Recommended Posts

Been wanting to fit my smaller plate to the car for agesss now, but couldnt due to the plate recess bumper trim.

I called BMW yesterday morning and they had on in Enfield, luckily my mate was working up near there yesterday so he grabbed it for me and fitted it yesterday afternoon.

I must admit i am really happy with the clean look that it gives off.

Although i am waiting for a policeman who has had a bad day and pulls me over for the plate not on the front of the car.

I dont know where to put the plate on the front though, or maybe get a vinyl plate ordered.

Thoughts guys

Looks good! I know there's a few people who drive without them here but i'd really be tempted to get a smaller one made up with like magnetic fixings or something..

I just wouldn't want to drive around with the "illegal" look! :P

Looks like your number plate has fallen off, I think cars at shows without front plates look good but a car on the road with one stuck in the window looks daft.

Agreed, looks worse stuck in the window than it does on the front of the car

I also want to get this number plate delete trim. Is there any difference between the trim for pre facelift and facelift ??

Looks great by the way, I much prefer it without the bulky trim on the front, even with the number plate in its original place

No should be the same IIRC.

Mikey_P - how'd you fit it?

thanks guys! i am really happy with it now.

I have just ordered the same size plate for the rear now too.

It was easy bud, literally just pulled the original one off, then pulled the edge off one of the side trims and slid one end in and pushed the clips back in and job done!

When i called BMW up they said that there was only a couple in the country in the stock lists, and would takea couple of extra days to come from Germany, but still easily accessable guys!

With the smaller plate in the original place just without the chunky previous trim i think its such a good and sleek mod, well happy!

If people want to know the size of the plate it is (406mm x 112mm) and because my plate has one number less its fully legal :)!!!!

I meant how is the plate fitted? :P

Ah sorry haha, yeah i used the number pads, double sided foam.

You should really flush the bumper trims away alltogether, much nicer:

I would mate, we will see how it all goes, the car was only ment to be a run about when i first got it but i got the bug again and had to do a few bits to it.

Right i got a smaller plate sorted and fitted it to the bumper.

It's still a full size plate that has been trimmed though, doesn't look quite right in my opinion.

How about a 3/4 size plate, I had one on my Nissan 200SX

For comparison:

Fitted:

So much better than a full size one, I never got pulled for it either

That looks good rich

Shame the audi has a recess for a full size as its a cheap mod i'd consider doing

yeah, massive improvement that bumper was designed for a Jap plate, so didn't suit a UK one

yeah true, but my one is legal font and legal spacings etc, so dont have to worry about MOT's or anything and then when i go to shows etc it will be off anyway :)

Mine was legal font & spacing... just scaled down a bit LOL
