Baz2435
Few days ago now, the Vert swept through its MOT. As a treat gave the auto box a service. New filter and gasket, some new automatic transmission fluid too (obviously) Not a moment to soon either. What was in there was not a healthy looking red colour. Baz2435
Gave the roof of the Vert a clean this afternoon. Considering that it didn't really look to bad I was surprised how much green mould was lurking under the surface and in the seems. A second session with the roof cleaner and upholstery brush lays ahead.

MICK 330
Had a mare!!!! 330d - Fitted new rear pads n discs. Searched & failed to find this strange whirrin noise! Vert - Eml brake & warning triangle have been on & off for a few weeks now. Also a really crap lumpy idle. Pulling away it would occasionally stutter even go to stall sometimes with a knock sound. The car just doesn't pull. Had it checked by an Indy but nowt obvious code wise ...twice! So the car drives ok for 5 /10 miles then the lights come on. So I stop the car count to 10 then switch it back on....now only the engine light comes on not EML etc all these in Yellow not red. Then the car drives 85miles to work with no worries! I had an old Merc with MAF sensor trouble & similar problems so went & bought one. I had disconnected it & run it & it seemed better . So gets the car home at 5.10pm fitted the new MAF in 5mins. Started the car up & ran it all seemed fine (engine light still on). Switched it off to hear a induction noise. Weird! It happened maybe 2 seconds after switching off. So started it again & same result but this time I was by the MAF sensor. On inspection (or fumbling around) I find 3 holes in the rubber boot/hose that attaches to the MAF. Hmmmm all this computer trickery & my problem is a bloody perished boot. Now 5.25pm & after 5 phone calls no dealer etc has one in stock.....Bugga!!!!! Try again tomorrow although tape & ty raps are holding up well!!! Bloody engine light is still on though lol. I still like these cars....I really do.........ARRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!! Baz2435
Removed "330ci" from the rear of the car in the week, also replaced the old number plates with new plates with no additional signage or badging too.I prefer the smooth, uncluttered look. Not sure if the idiot in the Alfa driving like a fool behind me today thought the lack of badge meant I had a 318, but his attempt beat me away at the lights was unsuccessful. Not big, not clever I know. Isn't the sort of thing I'd usually do but in this instance very rewarding. At no point was the speed limit exceeded. freddies_southbeachtalents
Bought my 330ci back in December and have been loving it. But all of the discs were corroded and the rear pads were wearing down. Over the last few weeks the car was groaning whenever I pulled up to a stop, especially from the rear. So me and a mate did some DIY changing of the discs and brake pads on the front and rear. The rear discs and pads were grooved and worn thin. Changed all four corners with Pagid discs and pads, then had some fun bedding the pads in with stop and starts. The car now rides like a dream. Very happy with the job and a lot of fun doing the work myself. Ashley1995
feva
The wife heard a rattling today whilst I was driving as for once I had the stereo off. Pissed off big time starts just before 2k revs. Had been made aware of a timing chain issue (which gives this sound) but was told my car had the improved parts fitted. Any ideas of what else it could be lads? I'll have to take it bmw specialist weds see what he says. I hope its not the chain coming loose, if it is it'll be pop to bmw and ask about quality improvement issue regarding timing chains in n47 engines (again asked before) If it is I'm well and truly done with BMW's first the e46 swirl flap issue and getting more rust spots popping up than a teenagers face. Now this on the e90. Washing it to calm me down. Edit:been out in it again, first 10mins nothing then it's back [emoji35] Sent from my Note 4 using tapatalk
mjn
Could be worse, i had to fork out £185 for a red boost hose. Hose is about 8 inches.
feva
Could be worse, i had to fork out £185 for a red boost hose. Hose is about 8 inches. Ouch. The more I've been reading up on the timing chain issues Mal the more I've convinced myslef that even if it's not the timing chain causing this noise the cars going. Read quite a few articles that state all n47 (and possibly all diesels) engines till they changed the shape are effected. But bmw won't recall as its outside warranty. Average price for damage caused to n47 £4-5k. Not worth the risk I'm officially done with BMW's now. It would always be in the back of my mind that the chain might snap. Not worth the worry. Pissed big time. Sent from my Note 4 using tapatalk MICK 330 and alan.hooley.1

MICK 330
Haha, feva I came from Audi to Bm`s. They are just as nasty as these buggers spesh the auto`s when they go wrong! I have not driven a new one for a while(like 6 years ish) but they just don't drive like Beemers although they may less of a PITA !!!!! For a laugh ive just trolled the VW forums &....its just like reading all our problems on here! S then went to the Skoda forum but not much to report. In fact I think too little was said about problems so maybe the owners just junk them lol? A tad unfair maybe lol. That or the cars are bloody good! Sent from my Note 4 using tapatalk Or buy a Skoda suberb and have the same engineering without a huge price premium for a badge and the removal of some standard spec? I really dislike the way VAG do this - design something to be profitable as a SEAT/Skoda, remove standard kit/spec, then jack the price up and call it a VW or an Audi. I get why they do it, but I would struggle to stomach the extra price.
