Does my E46 have Bluetooth?

Recommended Posts

My '04 E46 320d M-sport touring has voice controls shown on the steering wheel as well as a similar button by the cradle for a Sony Ericsson handset.

I've read elsewhere that this might mean that the car is fitted with bluetooth, is this correct? I guess if I have a look for the ULF (by the DVD unit in the boot, which I'll need for the passkey anyway) that might be the definitive answer?

Thanks,

Paul

Yeah sounds like you do. Surprising you didn't know since it would have been advertised as having it normally! It's a nice feature :)

Mine wasnt either :)

The bluetooth module is a right PITA to get to on these, and when all unbolted its a s**t to turn it round to see the label, careful you dont tear any wires and be prepared for sore knickles!

Mine wasnt advertised with bluetooth either....bonus I thought!

Also look in the handbook/ folder because you may find a card with your passkey on.

I can remember seeing one of these but I've got no idea if it was in the car I eventually bought.

I tasked my wife for testing it without the key and it did indeed try to pair. Hopefully I can find that damn card and don't have to rip a load of stuff out (I'd likely just break something else).

Right, just nipped downstairs. I did find a credit card with numbers on it however this says

Radiopass BMW - Professional BM54

it then has a code in the format of:

XX 0000 0 0000000

where Xs are letters and 0s are numbers. Is the correct piece of information? I tried plugging in some / all of the numbers / letters into my phone but had no luck.

EDIT: the wife has located a significantly bigger piece of card with a 4 digit passkey on it!

EDIT EDIT: it works, the wife is smiling. Result!

this:

might be useful for other people (I don't have a paper copy).

Thanks for all of the help.

Sag2 do you have pairing button by on centre console? Or a shark fin? Neither of these and I doubt you have bluetooth. Many people see the steering wheel and think they do but just to save you ripping your car apart other wise

Sharkfin is irrelevant - it is used purely to boost the signal of a phone if the snap in adapter is used in place of cupholders or the sliding clubby

But you surely wouldn't have a sharkfin if you don't have bluetooth as you shoudlnt have a snap in adaptor?

You could have had a sharkfin if you had the pre-bluetooth in-car phone but I admit this would be rare

Either way I only guessed I had bluetooth when I saw the fin..I had no adaptor or pairing button.

Some people remove the pairing button as it is only needed once to pair the phone (as long as the pairing keeps ofc)

The adapter is optional and is not needed to make the system work

Hi all,I've got a snap in phone adaptor instead of cup holder and they is a button near the phone cradle think it's the pairing one as well as eject for phone but no shark fin.

Well that proves trickters point lol....check for ulf in the boot or look for the bluetooth card in your card folder.

Trickster your right someone obviously removed my snap in, I know you don't need it and I'm pretty glad to be fair, looks ugly and the other trays are more functional. I just have a home made button under my cup holders now.
