Blair
What does £4k get me? It would have to be an MSport. Obv the main car is the same but is the hood troublesome? Are they all electric? Anything in particular I need to check on the hood? Ta
JimmyJames
Spend a bit more and you could get an M3 vert. The power would make up for the extra weight of the roof assembly.
mit
It will get you a tidy 330. Imagine you're not fussed about the engine though? Roof problems are rare and you can buy a whole roof on eBay for about £500. Blair and Gaz
n0v0s
£5k gets you a tatty, high miles m3 vert on ebay. £4k probably gets you a good msport vert. Maybe check out pistonheads/autotrader? Blair
Blair
Wouldn't want an M3. Not really fussed which engine or auto/manual. Main things I need to know are roof related as I've never had anything to do with them.
Mark_F
Blair, with the engine running put the roof half way back and check all the D rings and the cord on both sides. if there are any knots anywhere or different coloured cord, its been botched and you'll need the batwing repair kit from the stealers (~£93) previous experience my friend. other to that, no problems here Gaz and Blair
Chimp Choker
Mate. In 4.5 years of ownership I've had zero issues with the roof. I do however lube all hinges/joints twice a year. sent with tapatalk pro that mr feva can't use Blair
Bacon
Had my 330 vert over a year now no problems with the roof 52 plate , some times as with all cars its just the luck of the draw Blair
Mikey
2 verts over 7 years, zero roof issues. Blair
mit
2 verts over 7 years, zero roof issues. For me: E46: broken roof seal already like that when I bought it. £180 for the seal from the dealer and a right pain to fit! E93: design flaw in roof seal from factory, fixed under warranty (folding hard top though).
Carlosos
Is it another engine swap jobbie? If so could get a m3 sell the engine as worth a lot more than 330 and end up with a slightly nicer body and would go someway to pay for the new engine. Just a thought. mit
Yeah it's expensive to insure as a first car. £4k will also get you a nice Clio or fiesta. Edited March 15, 2014 by mit Daz 330 Cs

momo
Not really it'll be my car with her named & I'll be paying! I'm sure you know but just be careful mate. If she uses it as her main car after she passes and you don't swap her to the main driver on the policy it's technically insurance fraud. Helluva 1st car though! Blair
I've obv not made myself clear this is to replace the 357 but I'll teach her to drive in it & then let her use it on special occasions. RickyZ

Wash
Not really it'll be my car with her named & I'll be paying!Even so, you may be surprised at how much it could cost? Maybe get a quick insurance quote to see how much it would be before buying one and then realising it's going to cost 5k to insure her on the car.
