pirate1066
Did you use fire resistant sealer around panel as if tank rupture etc it comes in round the edges dude, you can also put valve s into bulkhead to so lines don't pass through and chafe, ;-)
pirate1066
Don't forget parcel shelf seal all the little holes or plate that too
Elmo.91
Nice one simon im sure the updates to come will not disapoint you ! Im not one for cleaning im more into making a well made fuctional car that will work well.. evryones got to love shiney bits though right . Yes the pannels was sealed when fitted for more than one reason not only to completly seal the boot of but also to stop the anoying noise from metel to metel contact. Parcel shelf will be sealed off completely when the rear screan is removed for a plastic one.. as for as talking fuel lines though not to chafe hang with me I have something for you
Elmo.91
Okay guys sorry for the long update iv been manicly busy working and training the last month or so, Hopefully have more time to myself over the next few months to get this finished or at least to a nearly finished point. Okay picking up where I left it, the partition is cut to shape and supports added to gain a little strength across the panel and also to do something else which will be reveled in a minuite, For now though all of the interior needed to be striped back to bear basics and the complete wiring loom removed from the car so here that goes.. Pedals removed wont be needing them any more.. Front end wiring removed Fresh loom ready to be chopped up Heater box out and all the rest of the sound insolation / dedening removed.. Another order of dash fittings these things would be cheeper if they where made out of gold !!! Bonner aero catches. Lots more to update im just putting it up as I go along or its doesn't like posting...
Elmo.91
Okay some different cylinders orderd to the the sizes I need for this build and also bano to 8mm slip on fittings for the supply lines. supply line.. first length of 25ft copper line.. fuel pump holder.. Harness eyelets and a some of the 5mm p clips I will be using for the brake lines.. Okay now for a fancy part with shiny bits, Bulkhead connectors will take the fuel through the partition I personally wanted to make this a nice little feature of the interior not to just have them coming though a grommet worth every penny I think, Will look amazing when finished. The other reason for supporting the plate was so I could take the connections through with more added support. Fuel pump bracket and swerl take are in there final fitting position after welding threaded nuts to mount upon, this means they can be removed and refitted easily
Elmo.91
Fan heaters have been striped down of all motors and fixed in a position which it is constantly on hot, recirculate and pointing at the windscreen, all air con parts removed, It will have an on off switch, simple.. Blanking off a few holes in the bulkhead.. Back the the fuel system.. Partition has been painted and riveted into place fits like a glove. Fittings and lines made up for the boot Temporary fitting of the lines in the boot. still the return to tank left to make up. Cds tube from express metals for mounting the seats.. more than ample size and thickness !! The new drivers seat.. pure filth Fitting !! EPIC !! Elmo.91
Got round to mounting the Tillton reservoir not the nicest thing to mount in the place I wanted it but pulled it off never the less. Holes drilled have grommets fitted not to rub through. Little bit on wiring, going to be wiring from scratch so had a little look on isis to get me head around the way the standard wiring is so that I can see what can be done with mine.. to Meany control units for what im needing so wiring will be very different.. Bed time revision at its best ! Nice little touch Cartek battery isolator, shut offs inside and outside the vehicle one of if not the best on the market had experience with these before and they are very good. Fuse carrier off an x5 ample number of fuses ! Going to be running an M20 single mass flywheel, got my hands on one with an old worn clutch for test fitting only, Dropping it off for machining and balancing at the end of the week so progress in this soon, LUK clutch has been ordered and iv been to pick up some new genuine bmw flywheel bolts from my old employers lol. Elmo.91
Interior painting finished off thank god ! Old s**te 1.9 removed. Anyone who wants the whole engine for spare I will do cheep as chips for them. Always nice to put a name to a forum name I think, so for those who want to know what my ugly mug looks like this is it lol.. Hydro mounting time. Made a nice little plate to mount to off the transmission tunnel, primed and painted. Fitted in place.. Popped down to see a friend of mine Dave coe and you just have to appreciate his time attack Scooby.. pure sexy !! Engine mount brackets from the e39 to e46 ones all sorted. Fitting the pedal box here we go bare with me ill enplane what I have done and why.. Marked off the place in where the box will sit, Fabricated a box section to fit flush with the contours of the floor pan for a perfectly flat base to mount onto. beautiful.. Drilled holes for the peddle box position on the plate elongated the holes on the plate to allow movement of the peddle box. Then soused some 6mm steel plate and trilled the holes from the pedel box into it. Tapped the holes with a m10 x 1.5 thread. Bolts screwed in bolts counter sunk and welded strongly. Cut the extruding bolts down to the length I need This is how they will s**t to allow movement of the peddle box back and forth for fine tuning and also some left to right movement to get that position spot on, grip tape was added in-between the two pieces to eliminate any slip that may occur. welded in place nice and strong.. Elmo.91
Got the rear brakes plumbed in from the hydro back few little pictures of that for you. Engine bay pained same colour as the inside.. Test fitted the front end on, just a quick look to see how it all sat, more playing around is needed here.. I have some ideas in mind. Passenger seat bars wended in with some fresh paint. Needed a clutch felxi.. found a hel one off a civic... that will do nicely. Bulkhead fuel connections sorted No longer need of an ignition barrel or lock so I cut it all off the rack and gave it a lick of paint for good measure.. Final picture for now just a quick one of the inside.. Just had conformation that my roll cage has been delivered !! Lots of good stuff happening so I will try and update you all more often than I have been. thanks for taking your time to have a look and thank you for your support its all very much appreciated. Elmo.91
Thanks for the comments guys there all much appreciated Pure functional car but without the couldnt care less about how its got there attitude with alot of track builds, if im building anything I will do so to my very best ability only other contrubuting factor is cost, unfortunately we all have a budget we can spend but building the best that you can with what you have is what its all about for me. bungers
That's a good mentality to have and will serve you well. I'd love to have the skills & tools available to do something like this myself. I've got a plan for my car but sadly the only input from me will be the idea and the funds, someone else will get the fun part of actually building the thing :-( Edited July 24, 2014 by bungers Cannockwolf

simonlpearce
Agreed your work ethic is top and the pictures make it all look so easy! I would have failed miserably when it comes to the wiring. Nuts and bolts im ok with but anything electrical is where the costs start to mount!
