StuBeeDoo
Alcantara will soon start to look manky unless you wear driving gloves all the time. Leather FTW. Imo i prefer the leather look as it matches the airbag more It's an E30. That's the horn push!. Ashley, are you fitting an Mtech2 or is that just for example? No just an example, can't find any pictures of an SE wheel thats been done, so going to have mine thickened up and have some thumb bits added. Plus can't quite justify spending £100 + on a Mtech 2 wheel to then spend another £100+ having it re-trimmed!
StuBeeDoo
I never liked the MTech2 anyway. I had a 370mm MTech1 in my E30.
L4nky808
Definitely the leather, there is nothing to match the alcartara to in your car so it would look a little odd on its own IMO Ashley1995
TriggerFish
I never liked the MTech2 anyway. I had a 370mm MTech1 in my E30. Agreed - much nicer wheel. I'd go leather too. I love alcantara, but wear would be my concern, and as said, it won't really blend in anywhere
SpanneR
Dan (My mate with the AMG) has an alcantara wheel and he uses some special cleaning product, hes done 10k miles in it and the wheel still looks like new.

Edit: I think i'm going to go for the leather option IIRC, he was a bit on the slow side replying when I first enquired. Did someone say he has a day job at Mini in Cowley?? simonlpearce
Not sure i like the red stitching, tri colour all the way, and would defo go for leather.
Ashley1995
Idea of the red was it would match my paintwork, although i do really like the M-TriColour..
simonlpearce
Unless you were planning on doing seat stitching etc in red also, then again i think it would stand out too much. Less is more and all that, but that's just my opinion.
Ashley1995
I do have tri-colour stitching for my handbrake gaitor, and was going to get a matching gear gaitor too, but then i could get a pair with red stitching...
Ashley1995
So in the end I went for: thickened wheel with thumb grips, perforated sides, smooth top and bottom and M tri-colour stitching. I sent the wheel of last week and was received by Jack on Tuesday, I sent payment over on Tuesday and Jack emailed to say he would keep me updated. I emailed Jack today, just to ask how he was getting on. I was not expecting the wheel to be ready at all as i knew it could take 2 weeks. Jack emailed me back within 30mins and said the wheel had been posted and would be back with me tomorrow! What excellent service! I have not seen it yet but i'm sure it will look brilliant. Pictures to follow tomorrow RickyZ
