chris
Having some issues with my mates 330 clubsport (2003 facelift) auto. It seems to hold in 4th sometimes, then the warning light comes on, but turn the car off and then on again its fine. Revs jump a tad as well between 2nd and 3rd changes, plus in auto mode it makes a weird noise. I dont have enough experiance in the autos to give much advice, but the fluid and filter change seems the best start, however £300 ish! Anyone had the same? Or know much about them? Hi mate, never had any issues with my clubsport autobox but my mate had a very similar issue with his z4 auto, had to take it to dealer in the end, tured out the torque converter was toast ... Rich_D
The torque convertor is failing, be prepared for an expensive bill...
chris
Seems a fluid change and filter change may be in order. Spoken to a head BMW tech who I know, and they just replace the box as they don't want any come backs, but fluid and filter will work wonders apparently! Certainly worth doing instead of a 4k bill! If it is the torque convertor, then new fluid won't fix it, only help prolong the inevitible failure It's more like half that cost for a refurbed box, considerably less for just the torque convertor and if you get that sorted it won't take the rest of the box with it
harmzsingh
If it helps, I had my autobox replaced last month with similar issues as yours. In my case it turned out to be the clutch packs failing. Cost me £950 all in. Drives superb now. Wouldn't even bother changing oil at this point, it's just a £100 wasted.
