1320gaz
My fan belt snapped off yesterday! Worst day possible. Im going to replace it today but can't find a diagram anywhere on the google for the way it goes on? Can anyone post one for me?
TriggerFish
Last three photos of this post helped me when I did mine on Saturday. You'll need a 24mm socket for the long belts tensioner, and 16mm (I think) for the air-conditioning belt. 32mm spanner for fan removal required too. All the diagrams I saw were for the petrol engines, but this was clear enough.
FilthyBadger
I'm changing my alternator tomorrow, what time frame am I looking at, if all goes smoothly? Also is it easier doing it from the top or under the car?
TriggerFish
Radiator out, I believe, so factor that in. (Maybe a couple of hours to remove/refit if all goes well - always seems to have complications for me though!) The bolts foul on the radiator otherwise from what I remember from when I was planning to chance mine (luckily the alternator was fine, it was my amp that was failing and draining the battery). The alternator (although I've never changed one) is two or three bolts, so shouldn't take long, and about 5-10 minutes to feed the belts back on. So I don't know in short, but I'd guess an afternoon/morning should do it?
FilthyBadger
Thanks for the speedy reply, swapping the idler pulleys while I'm at it. Merry Christmas!
