Tim-Ci
^^ This is where it starts to get exciting? Hope it works out well.... I was intrigued by the intensive wash stalk you mentioned, so I Googled it. I found this post by someone with lots of information, might have some information to help you: https://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/showthread.php?t=475422 I realise now in your earlier post you were probably asking for something to 'buff up' the doorcard with, not retrim your seatbacks. I always use Poorboys Natural Look dressing on my interior trim. It cleans and gives a satin-ish shine, not too glossy, and works okay on leather too. Here's a link to it: https://www.carparts4less.co.uk/cp4l/p/-/-/-/-/?552999280&0&cc5_116&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIovvJkrX53gIVAud3Ch0q_wH0EAQYASABEgIQRPD_BwE N.B. I never use the spray gun, just the normal flip top lid and then squeeze it onto a small sponge. One thing that I noticed on mine, is that when it went past 140,000 miles, the exhaust fume smell became stronger over about 10,000 miles (no air leaks causing it). My O2 sensors were getting worn. I replaced the full set for about £200, access is tight and I found a flexi head O2 spanner need for the post cat ones . Yours might not be suffering from poor O2 sensors yet but I thought I'd mention it. I did the full set, some people say you only need to do the pre-cat ones really to improve mpg. The mpg on my 10 mile commute went from about 25 to about 29 mpg straight away by doing the O2 sensors, so clearly the engine is wasting a lot less fuel now. Hope the supercharger fitting goes well! CoupEdin
Curious if anyone looking in or on here has ever done the CSL spoiler retrofit; where it’s fitted and filled so it’s flush with the top of the boot lid I’ve got a spare OE boot, so can choose between stock or CSL. Not quite OEM+ but I think they look great,
momo
You mean the stick-on bit onto the original boot lid? Yeah, been done a few times.. Just got to be careful the bodyshop fill it correctly as the filler may crack if the boot is slammed. Here's one that comes to mind:
kirkynut
I think I'd be more inclined to get a fibreglass or carbon fibre CSL replica boot lid made for a coupe. More money I know but I think the outcome would be better. It strays from the OEM+ non shouty theme you were aiming for though and I quite liked that, especially with the Supercharger coming. It would also be a bit of a sleeper. People expect a 330i to be quick but a Supercharged one is an M3 eater! Stick a big spoiler on the back, as nice as CSL spoilers are, you'll give the game away. I can see why you're tempted but not with stock wheels etc. I just can't see it working. That's just my opinion though and it's not my build. Kirkynut I've looked at the fibreglass and carbon replica CSL boots but fit and finish of the whole thing put me off. Neither are cheap and they're not OEM. I found a matching-coloured - Sapphire Black 475 - Coupe boot lid off a Facelift for £70 delivered, including the lights, number plate lights and boot release trim piece, and the internal carpet trim. The spoiler I got for £50 delivered. Both via 'Make Offer' on eBay. But what I will do now is blend it in to retain the OE CSL look - as per this YouTube video series. Putty filler, body filler and some patience. My front end - bonnet, bumper and wings need paint so this can get done at the same time. By getting a second bootlid - I keep the original OE part unmolested - get a proper Facelfit boot to match my OE rear LEDs and keep it all metal, and in the factory paint, no covering up another colour which is a giveaway. What do you think? Blended in it's subtle - and I love the shape - if I don't like it I can swap back to the boot lid I have now....

I always love guys that lay down the law to their bodyshops - 'they know I won't take anything but perfect' types! Round here it's like, take it or effin leave it pal, we're not bothered, we're up to our eyes in work...!! You've got nothing to lose but a little money, some time and effort. If you don't like it, you'll still have the old one as you say. It's your car and you'll be the one with the balls to give it a go. If it's done well and you decide it's not for you there'll be someone who will buy it. CoupEdin
I hadn't thought of the resale potential - but very good point. I do agree though - if it's a sleeper it's a sleeper - it shouldn't be anything other than bog standard on the outside. But I think they look great in that OE style, smoothed in. Oh well the boot arrived yesterday - the spoiler is on a slow boat from Latvia I think.
kirkynut
Thinking about this a little more. I wonder if you can add a multiplug to the wires from the body to the boot etc. Then you can change bootlids with relative ease and speed according to which you fancy. Kirkynut Great minds and all that Kirky! I've not counted the wires yet but it would make a lot of sense. I was thinking of hiding it within the boot itself, so from the rubber gaiter thing it wouldn't be visible. The other boot lid I have has had it's wire's cut. kirkynut
I wouldn't get too hung up on keeping the rubber gaitor original. The wires break inside it so you have to slice it open to make the repair eventually. My Mrs 325i suffered this. I suppose it depends on the age of the car for brittleness and the number of times the boot has been opened. I personally would make the join with a suitable waterproof plug and tidy it up with black loom tape and self amalgamating tape. Then again the gaitor could be cut in half and stretched over the plug perhaps. It's just getting it to look like it's meant to be that way. I didn't worry on the Mrs 325i as it's knackered anyway, so tidiness is the least of it's worries. Andrew Fanning
Popped in to checkout your build after your commented on mine. Love all the oem extras you have added and only wish I could run a supercharged 6 but insurance costs here are to crazy, and paying the high premiums for a car that gets out once or twice a week if i'm luck doesn't really make sence , maybe if i was using it everyday the power might seem more worth the expense. I see your last post was back in December any interesting updates for us since then??

I see your last post was back in December any interesting updates for us since then?? Just ordered through a family member in the the trade with BMW discount: Both rear boot plastics - the side pieces, mine are faded and scratched. Also the lateral trim panel across the area the boot closes on as that's scratched too. On order are the black 'ashtray console' and the beige 'handbrake console' plus new OEM velour mats. Scuttle panel below the wipers Car's booked in next month for paint: Front bumper Bonnet Front N/S wing Rear bumper New Calearo FM/AM & DAB sharkfin aerial. Replaced the mesh grill at the front and cleaned it all up - really brings it back up to date. Found an Alpine TUA100 DAB tuner for sensible money which works through the Intravee which is easy to fit, but I'll do that when I do the boot plastics. Got an M3 full button console - that I think you can see in the pics. I've wired in the TPMS retrofit and need to code that next. For the Sport button I've come up with a plan; replace it with a PDC button so I can switch the annoying PDC gong off if I want to - say when I'm on the phone to someone... Got all the parts and hope to get to this at the weekend. Planning for my supercharger fit currently, this means: CCV rebuild DISA valve New tensioners - aux and AC - car's 85k miles and 17 years. New AC belt - mine whines New water pump New expansion tank New thermostat Love my E46 - the herd is really thinning but I enjoy driving it every time. On mine the aux belt tensioner bearing was a bit noisy, it has the spring loaded tensioners not the hydraulic ones, I just replaced the tensioner wheel with a Dayco 89133, which was recommended by a forum member. This worked perfectly. The cheapest I can see for sale is this one from Canada, for about £30 on EBay: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-Dayco-89133-Idler-Pulley/283548347800?epid=76186573&hash=item4204cc6d98:g:89YAAOSwvg9XdFzp The one I bought was from the UK for about £20, so you might be able to find one cheaper than the above if you look around. Will be good to see your supercharging progress, I have thought about doing it to mine but decided the effort + cost vs. reward was just a bit too high for me + risk of the clutch needing doing (it's on 160,000 miles). Mine is running exceptionally well with relatively new vanos seals and genuine O2 sensors, remap, no air leaks, so it's just about fast enough for now.
