dec74n
Did the ccv today, hands sore now but got it done but I screwed up on something because..Now struggling to start unless I put foot on accelerator and though drives, feels slower and not as responsive/quick as before. The throttle body is drive by cable, so not sure if I did something wrong reassembling, there is a screw adjustment, could I have disturbed that, also struggled to put icv back in, felt like was not in far enough, any ideas what I could have not put back properly?Learning as I go but days like today make me frustrated with the car and doubting my abilities [emoji25] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
evokid
All i can think is a hose off somewhere? Air leak? Did you do then Throttle Adaptation reset after disassembly? Edited October 27, 2018 by evokid
dec74n
Gonna check everything again today, as for throttle reset, it’s a m52, so don’t think I need to do that on this oneSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
dec74n
I never felt the icv seated properly, could this be the issue?Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
TriggerFish
ICV could certainly cause the starting! On my E30 (different engine, but still uses an ICV), I didn't get the ICV in correctly, and it would crank, splutter and die with a loud whooooshing noise. It would run if I used the throttle though. Turned out the ICV wasn't sealing with the intake manifold/throttle body. Pushed it, and sorted. Does it idle on its own, once it has started? Maybe the sluggishness is due to the excess air leaking by the ICV? (I don't know the M52 engine at all, so just guess work I'm afraid).
dec74n
Yes idles fine once started then when drove it yesterday it just felt so much slower Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
TriggerFish
Hmmm, possibly not the ICV then, as I'd doubt it'd ever idle if that was at fault. Sorry I can't help further - I don't know these petrol engines at all!
dec74n
I used another code reader and got a camshaft signal, inlet error, I did unplug and plug this back in, could I have done something Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
dec74n
Doh! ccv finished off by torch and when pluggin the wires in, I traced all wires coming from box and the inlet cam wire that goes to box had fell behind alternator, here’s me checking exhaust cam sensor as also unplugged that with thermostat connector etc to give me more room but as couldn’t see the inlet cable, and getting my cam sensors mixed up, what can I say, tiredness makes you stupid lolSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk TriggerFish

I did something similarly as stupid when I did my CCV , I forgot to reconnect the vacuum line under the manifold I had taken off which caused engine to misfire on 5 cylinders. after many hours of searching I decided to take the whole manifold off in the end and found the problem . glad you managed to sort it
TriggerFish
Nice and simple fix! I did the same too - on the M20, the throttle position sensor and ICV are next to each other, come off the same spur of loom, and have identical plugs... yep... That took way more time with a mutlimeter to pin down than I'd have liked!
dec74n
After finishing the ccv and being rather pleased, the last thing I expected was the car to be worse than when started, I even went over everything but now think the fact it had fell behind the alternator didn’t help, so many things still todo like vanos seals etc, looking forward to the fun mods, like m sport bumpers etc but essentially maintenance must come first, though weather not enticing now to work on cars !Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
