dunk1
Getting to be an expensive month and I've not done the shocks/dampers yet Bosch Battery Eibach Pro kit DSC master cylinder sensor Rear brake calipers and possibly rear discs & pads Very soon it'll need a pair of rear tyres too, just checked and they've done 13,000 miles of mostly sensible driving. Not sure if that's good, bad or average. Should I stick with the Vredestein Ultrac Vorti's or try something else, been fine grip wise wet or dry etc Just found these on ebay, would you try them ???? I've never heard of them https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/193913516488?_trkparms=aid%3D1110006%26algo%3DHOMESPLICE.SIM%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20201210111314%26meid%3D75d68e5fc5694803ade81317989b8523%26pid%3D101195%26rk%3D3%26rkt%3D12%26sd%3D124815203027%26itm%3D193913516488%26pmt%3D1%26noa%3D0%26pg%3D2047675%26algv%3DSimplAMLv9PairwiseWithPLXWeb&_trksid=p2047675.c101195.m1851&amdata=cksum%3A19391351648875d68e5fc5694803ade81317989b8523|enc%3AAQAGAAACAB3CfglrJx4%2B9uQQAutorqqmkLerAquJQ%2B9IzP%2F19uGZzMn%2BY3bkUeDnNchjKafUyuteyatzecuv5TDQMz92tCk0E2w%2F3EJfN4luXtH6J35N8EDUf9MEtPOaJZK5BvbpNsiZCAih8l%2FqLGiFVlisp%2BeDZKU%2FQ3A1Uz3tUNzDUJiPHlUH54JylY06o%2BFc0JC%2FORIqMsh%2BslbTRXR1m%2BmvqAxFRiybNqFZyElAQ%2Bk4JtHu%2BFqeAGSV4qeEhOCvAZfdQQrMDRci3wKyXp0oqjpghBC0UW93jZ2KdvmdIzeLSadrn6zua4oK%2B9SoyzmF0ZhlZ%2BOwGX1zEROtaM0B8Mhi12E0SgLSQZrepVwnrIZqAtJBea0Sql8utsDsHOMiT39yEllYMKgmNqQX4HprQiEVChqyHHKAsXdEtpNMCDulJi8DROdc2fK7WXSGVIPX9PY6NsGQvDR8n5ALQunQB%2FMVSOr1EmsqjyiwhEo5AFSX4d0hk9mV70fTvmSrUMyAZMLuF97AuWOjla4l%2BrOSIvuRQ71UUlyum9cbPR6CBP0qADvu%2Bj0Foc%2B0YrGN5Yla7sJRV4SQ9bQjjo9VVYYvlRM%2FU3xtgAsly6cAsOj6HN%2FBBN8t2AI%2Fj39JULkObWfQI2fbTSqX649bosV6xp3pOTTiF1bzHbWOv%2Bhpp5ql4wOXQWTU|ampid%3APL_CLK|clp%3A2047675 Edited August 22, 2021 by dunk1
dunk1
I was kidding about the tyres 😀 Searching around now for a pair of 255 35 18's It does amuse me the names of some of the budget end brands Anyone use them and been pleasantly surprised ? dunk1
I'm comparing Michelin Pilot Sport 4 £470 a set to Kumho PS71 £307 a set Are the MPS4 worth the extra
incredirog
MPS4 worth the extra if you constantly drive in a manner which would overwhelm lesser tyres grip ability whether cornering braking or acceleration. If you pootle around within the confines of the law they are probably overkill dunk1

dunk1
So I'm leaning toward the Good Year Eagle F1 asymmetric 5 £390 delivered from Tyreleader Came 1st overall https://www.tyrereviews.com/Article/2021-Auto-Zeitung-Summer-UHP-Tyre-Test.htm
momo
Are you getting rears or a full set? Can't seem to find the Vreds anymore (little bit worrying as i'm a HUGE fan of their tyres. Got 2 cars with full Vreds on them). See if someone local would do a price match for the tyre only with Camskill. Camskill are usually the cheapest. Obv the local garage will charge what they charge for fitting. 2 tyre shops I use charge £6 a tyre or a better place charges £12 each (so long as you buy from them, but they offer price matching too so it works out). Also be careful of the GoodYears - they're a softer compound. Same with Dunlop (I had SportMaxx GT's and they wore out in 5k!!). If I can't get Vreds anymore i'd consider Hankook or Yokohama's personally. Edited August 23, 2021 by momo
dunk1
I've found the fronts 225 40 18 but only 1 rear 255 35 18 for the Ultrac vorti's I shall be asking on my other forums about the G/Y mileage I have a top local garage i use to fit tyres, i'll get them to see what they can supply Edited August 24, 2021 by dunk1
momo
I think I read something about Vredestein concentrating on agricultural tyres to keep the supply chain going (for now). Not sure how accurate that is so don't quote me on it. Maybe once the supply chain goes back to normal we'll get them back again? They've just released the Vorti+ tyre - looks like it's the same as the regular Vorti but with a few tweaks dunk1
dunk1
I shall buy a full set but just fit the rears for now as the fronts have a fair bit of life left in them. Still can't find two vorti's in 255 35 18 I'll keep looking
dontpannic
I'm running Michelin PilotSport 4 on my Touring (MV2's). Best tyres I've ever used. Done probably 13k miles on them now and still have loads of life left on the fronts, rears have probably got another 8-10k in them. I'm also running them on my Fiesta trackday/weekend car - they're great even round track - nowhere near as good as the R888R's I was running before but a very decent all round tyre. dunk1

Very good mileage if you get 23k out the rears MPS 4's I can get for £460 fitted G/Y Eagle Asym 5's for £445 fitted Both tyres seem to be very good in the reviews tests so its really down to the mileage they do, the Vredestein vortis i had only did 13k on the rears and they cost around £400 for the set Edited August 28, 2021 by dunk1
momo
Michelin > GoodYear any day!! I seem to get around 20-25k out of my Vorti's.. For me that's a new rear set every 4/5yrs! LOL Might be worth trying the MPS4s? See if they last a little longer.

Impressive, if I'd got that kind of mileage I'd stick with them They are worn very evenly across the width of the tyre, I must drive harder than I think I do ?? You have a fair bit more torque as well in a 330d so makes even less sense unless your driving like my gran ☺️ Edited August 30, 2021 by dunk1

momo
In 13yrs i've changed the fronts once! I think I get about 35k out of them! LOL. Maybe I need to enjoy my car on B roads a little more.. I say a little more, I never drive for the sake of driving anymore! It's just transport from A to B these days.. dontpannic
Yeah, I've been known to get over 60mpg on a run in my 330d Touring, last tank I averaged 45.1 and that was a mix of town and motorway - so yeah I'd say I was pretty mechanically sympathetic towards the car and tyres lol. dunk1
dunk1
I must drive like lunatic 😛 Best ever in my 330ci was 37mpg cruising through the night down to Spain My average here is 22 mpg

momo
Yep, when they get old enough people don't seem to care so much about those major issues. dunk1
I wanted one years ago and test drove one from Godfrey Hall's in Coventry, now Sytner Coventry That was when the Nikasil problem started surfacing I emailed CCA yesterday and had an email back asking me to call them, no answer so left a message
