scrimja
I'm one of the main 'use the search function' posters so I appologise for the following post if the information is already on here. Due to lack of internet (I'm on my phone) it's seriously tough to search through everything properly so can someone help out please. A) how do I go about putting angel eyes into my facelift coupe? From what I have read it's much more difficult than a pre-facelift. A DIY woul be great! the option for facelift angel eyes seem to be reflector or xenon where as I'm fairly sure I have a profjector main beam but not xenon. Am I right? I can get a pic up if needed. nathanwest
it is alot harder than a pre-face lift... as far as im aware, you have to heat up the headlight unit to get them apart, then put the angel eyes in etc... and then have to reheat to seal the unit back up ... thats the short version.. im useless at things like that, so just took it to Carl at BM Styling.. did a great job Also, i think Facelifts have the Projector headlights... mine hasnt got Xenon, but has the projector lights Simon has done it a few times, he might be able to help more! scrimja
Cheers Nathan. It was in the back of my mind that I had to heat them. Was really hoping I was wrong lol. Now where's Simon? He must actually be doing some work at the moment lol.

///Marty
Its not as bad as you would think, but it certainly is a ball ache in comparison to an M or pre facelift car. And contrary to popular belief you DO NOT have to put your headlights in the oven! A heat gun or hair dryer will do the job nicely. The worst part i found was removing the plastic trim underneath the headlight. they make a horrible creaking sound when you remove them and the clips are very easy to snap. Never uploaded a PDF file before but if it has worked you shoul dbe able to download a nice shiny PDF with step by step pics. If it hasn't worked then PM me you email addresses and i will send it to you guys individually.CCFL_DIY_for_E46_Facelift_Coupe_1_.pdf stu90

scrimja
I think I'm going to go for eBay specials at £32 including postage. How much are the SSDD ones? (in relation to the other thread lol). I can't make it to Bluewater this time unfortunately. I spend the majority of my life (when I'm not away at uni) in the Richmond area. Will have to look out for your car from now on!

Piper666
It took me about a day to do mine as i didnt want to rush and break something.. had a look at replacement headlamps, best part of £500! i put the unit in the oven, 90c for 10 mins.... i never stopped watching it. This was enough to soften the sealant and then used a hairdryer and trim removal tool to seperate the unit, lifting the clips first and working from the foglight side to the indicator due to the curve of the lamp. There are a couple of screws inside the lamp that need removing to totally disassemble the unit into a total of 4 pieces. The CCFL eyes i bought were from ebay at £33 and are rated at 7000k so bright white with a hint of blue. The double sided pads i thought wernt enough by themselves to hold the rings so also used a bead of thick clear silicone from RS. I also tinted the indicator lenses with a light key and dark smoke spray. For the connectors i split the sidelight bulb holder in half and put the pins from the inverter in the split mating half and then connect to the loom on the car. I secured the inverter by sticking it to the bulb inspection cover. There was a guide i used from another forum and will try and find it.

Psy
Hooray! Finally ordered a set of CCFL Angels with matching 6000k headlight bulbs from Teddy at SSDD Motorsport. Grabbed a pair of Xenon-style reversing lights too as I find the OEM ones far too dim to see clearly when going backwards at night. Should arrive this week, which is perfect as GF is away this weekend - whole weekend to myself to fit the things. The only mod I'll do that I think she'll actually care about "Aww, they'll make it look like a panda". Hmmm. Had a quick look at the lights and can see the physical stuff easily enough, but am worried about the electricals... Will see how I get on... snowcatxx87
You installed these upside down! As for my take on 04+ coupes: Putting them in the oven is 100000% easier than a heat gun. 250F for 20 mins. You have to be really really really careful while doing this. I used Umnitza's Orion V2 LED, CCFL have cold start issue and fail a lot - wouldn't recommend them.
