BSS
Please excuse the lack of introduction with this being my first post. Does anyone know if the later "rounder" post 2000 E46 steering wheel is a direct fit to an E46 that has the earlier E36 type steering wheel or are other parts needed like the SZL and steering collumn? Thanks in advance.

scorched soul
Hi there, I believe it will but you need to change the airbag to the round type in addition to the wheel. These are quite expensive (seen one on ebay for 150 quid today). Your best bet is to try and find a wheel being sold with the airbag.. I'm not sure if other parts are needed, but definitely the airbag is required.
dizzeedazza
you need the airbag and wheel, the problem is that fitting the airbag can be hit and miss as the round airbag is duel stage and the triangle airbag is single stage. if you do this you may or may not get an airbag light. i did this in my old e46 but i already had an airbag light on so never knew if it worked. also you need to wire in the multifunction buttons as the wiring is not there already unless u have it currently. worst case scenario if the airbag lights comes on you switch it back and reset the light at alocal garage
dizzeedazza
also it is a direct fit in terms of fitting and connectors. except as mentioned 2 airbag connectors on duel stage and one connector on single stage
