Hi all,

Yep another cliosport.net member converted to BMW ownership! This is my first post so I thought I would explain myself and post a few photos... :)

after being involved in a particularly nasty head on accident in the clio after an idiot being chased by traffic police decided to take a trip down the wrong side of a dual carriageway it was time to go shopping after my clio went from this:

and after looking at a fair few different cars I've gone for a 3.0 330Ci Sport

been to see a load and this one jumped out at me.. very clean honest example.. full bmw service history that kind of thing... I'll be picking this up next week..

Well not me... I still can't drive yet (broken collarbone)... but yeah.. you get the idea!

but onwards and upwards here starts my new project..

we'll see what happens.. My plan is to keep it for a couple of years until I get my payout from injuries etc sustained in the accident then I will probably buy something a little bonkers and japanese..

but then again I wasn't planning on modding the clio.. it just.. kind of.. happened !

I will probably return to cliosport ownership at some stage in the form of a ph1 172 or similar for a track toy as god I really do miss my 182 :(!!

first thing on the agenda is full paint correction.. its pretty good at the moment but I'm exceptionally picky! I have also just ordered some silvervisions in true cliosport fashion and some LEDs for numberplate lights etc that kind of thing and some Gliptone leather cleaning kit for restoring the seats a little.

Plans are as follows for now..

Paint Correction and full detail

scratch removal - teeny scuff on the bottom of the rear bumper needs paint..

Black grills

smoke/replace side reps - they are a little faded

LED Rear clusters

Xenon Retrofit...maybe angel eyes

New badges

New Gearstick and gaitor

pressed metal numberplates

get Inside strips painted professionally piano black or similar

Probably have the midbox and cats taken out for a bit more of a rumble from that lovely 3.0 straight 6

all of the above will be done fairly quickly I would imagine.. next I may go to some spacers, an alloy wheel refurb and a set of decent coilovers.

Firstly your lucky to be alive! As welcome.

Very clean example that Clio was, so looking forward to seeing the attention to detail and high standard of work going into this new project, I also have a history of the French legion and since ownership of the BMW haven't looked back, just a far more luxurious drive than the light tinny feel of the old rant boxes of fun the French make.

Spacers are a must too, completely change the awsthetixs and for the cost comparison to its an inexpensive must have mod, with regards to coilovers I have the cheaper ones that people use on here, good for lows however I'm running a 320cd so it's hardly a performance vehicle so lows was what I wanted.... You may have many say to opt for this route but I would strongly suggest get a decent pair like some HSD ones and reep the benefits of a far more enjoyable drive :)

Hi all thanks for the replies!

tinny rant box of fun.. perfect description! I think il enjoy driving something that doesn't rattle like a haiti shack when you sit inside it.. ! but it was definitely fun.. just something raw and a little bit daft about it!

what kind of spacer set up would you recommend and where from I think these wheels would look good just that little bit wider they seem to get lost a little in the arches!

Some of the coilovers seem to be dirt cheap for these but then im always wary on cheap stuff! but if they're good and no horror stories then thats the main thing!

Ouch that Clio was bad! Lovley 330 though, looks just like mine

Get yourself an arm rest tho it'll improve the driving experience tenfold

I did have a little flick through your threads... very smart :) number 14..! I think you're fairly qualified to give good advice... *looks for armrests on fleabay*

Thanks mate, seeing as you consider me a good source of advice I'd say go for the cheap coilovers they are sound! Although I'd no longer advise getting the tuning arts due to their poor new design, get some FK ones or JOM blue lines, jobs a goodun

Welcome, you'll find the admins here aren't as big of a douche bag as those over at Cliosport (ie. Revels)

Get that lower grill painted as well!

Thats on my list of things to do..! as well as an oil change.. think the last one was a few thousand ago.. tempted to run an oil flush or something through it too.. I dont know if this is a good idea? I hear these lumps can get a bit clogged up..

That clip 'was' quite nice.. Looks a sore one though!

Do like your upgrade more though ;)

yeah gonna be quite a step up i think from the clio.. but oooh yes...definitely a sore one!!!

I had some FKs before... some silverlines and they were pretty decent tbh.. so might well go for something like this :)

Welcome along Buddy, shame about the Clio. A lad at work has had three 182s, plus a liquid yellow R26 so I know what fun they are :D

Nice looking 330 though, onwards and upwards and all that jazz ;)

this ^ onwards and upwards definitely!! thanks mate one thing i noticed was how quiet and smooth everything was in comparision!

There's no doubt the frogs make and have made in the past some of the greatest hot hatches ever.

You'll find the Bm lovely though in so many ways. ;)

my insurance actually works out £50 cheaper with coilovers.. can't argue with that I suppose!! I want a set that isnt going to completely ruin the ride.. I mean im not overly fussed about it being stiff.. I mean my clio was on FKs and everything was polybushed etc so im used to it.. but I dont want to completely ruin it with a bad set up.. what would you say would be a good choice for keeping some degree of smooth ride.. not looking to spend a fortune though ideally

Now i feel like a stalker.. because i remember reading your sri thread on the corsa forum, i loved that car, got trashed when you sold it though. Also remember reading your clio sport thread in January as i was thinking of downsizing to one but decided against it especially when i test drove a few dogs. Couldnt believe what happened! it was easily the best car on CS as well. Id be interested to hear you opinion on the difference between the clio and 330 when youre well enough to drive, as im still considering one as a project in the near future.

Also looking forward to see what you do with this car now, judging by the past! keep it up man

Your Clio was a credit to you such a shame, but glad your on the mend.

I'd avoid cheap coilovers if you want to get anywhere toot sweet, the majority of owners of them seem to post saying they'd get better quality ones next time, except Jay but he drives like your Grandma and likes his car lower than his morals!
