geoffclement
Trying to find the cause of what sounds like an external engine rattle around the front of the engine. It started when I replaced the crankshaft pully that failed. I have replaced the tensioner pully with a patent one, I have replaced the water pump because there was play in the bearing, I have replaced the idle pulley but still it rattles on tick over. It's fine when driving, I have started the engine with no belt on and it's as sweet as can be. Belt back on and it rattles at tickover. Only thing I can think of is it might be a steering pump or alternator? But neither seem to be noisy listening with a stick. Any ideas would be welcome. Thanks. nevkid91
I'd defo advise you to take a look at the Crank Shaft pulley mate. They're really prone to go in the 2.0 diesels and had to get mine changed before i started driving it. Makes a grinding/vibrating noise does it? Rob-
That's been replaced already. Sounds like something along the run of the aux belt is seizeing causing the tensioner to vibrate. May well be the power steering pump, what condition is the fluid in?
