Imola red 330d saloon

Recommended Posts

Hi guys my 1st post here and to go with that this is my 1st e46 and 1st diseasel.

I've had to get a second car due to my 1 series project taking so long, I've been an active member on babybmw.net for a while and met some good people, so looking forward to meeting you guys

Getting onto the car ... picked this up on the 30th of December so only had it a few days but so far my browsing of this forum has helped with a few niggles and allowed me to see some cracking cars

So here's a few pictures of mine

44706517738ddc7ae1cd38d0d8c0df06.jpg5c89ff479d4ebe4979c10c33aa72517c.jpg52548617f66b94b02938d0a8be986ceb.jpg

I picked it up from a trader but the last owner kindly left on his eibachs and the handling is amazing! And comfortable for a lowered car. I've added some 12mm spacers all round just to fill the arches a bit better

Any help is appreciated as I said it's my 1st derv so it's all new to me :)

Welcome to the forum. A big part of me wishes I bought an imola red. Amazing colour

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Thanks :) if I'm honest I never thought I'd own a red car but I saw this one and it just tore at my heart strings so it had to be bought

Cracking looking E46 in the best colour as well [emoji4] I've also got eibachs on mine and love them! What other plans have you got?

Hi, thanks, I do wish I had xenon though .. I have been looking at ecotune, and their stage 2 and downpipe looks like a good route. Along with the egr blanking

Been looking at fmic but can't find any info on them for this car, or I haven't been looking hard enough, it has been a busy few says ;)

I want a ssk but there seems to be a lot of different opinions on which one works and different results.

I also want an lsd coupled with some matt bronze bola b1 I think that will finish it off.

Any other ideas? My knowledge of these cars is limited but I'm hoping to know it as well as my 1 series soon

manual?auto? and as its only the 184 engine,a remap would be good, but all the other kit wont see much more gains, although egr blanc and remapped out is a good idea while getting remapped,if its auto then i would do your homework,i cant rememeber which box it is,either 184 or 204 bhp one which is weeker, and quite a bill if it goes pop.and manual is good for 270 bhp in 204 guise without giving the drivetrain too much hammer, anymore and it will.184 is good for 230-240 bhp i think,

It's the man box I've read a lot on the autos so I tried to steer clear, I wish I had the 6 speed though as I'm forever looking for it.

Ecotune state 240 bhp 500 torque but the downpipe is needed to run that map - https://ecotune-scotland.co.uk/chiptuning?make=3&model=104&engine=570

I'd like the ic as if I get heat soak I know it will be at that crucial moment you don't want it and an lsd just because it feels more planted to drive, I'm not a drifter I just like to feel everything work as it should

diesels are very good at keeping cool, infact they like to be hot, unlike petrol,i also own a focus st-2 running over 300 bhp with all supporting mods,my e46 is around 265-270 bhp with 520 nm and 420 ftlbs, tjis is the alien tech k-tag software, not many running with fmic and decats downpipes etc,as they are not needed on the e46 ,but if you want that little extra then if they are fitted you will probably need a new clutch sooner rather than later, good luck with the car.

i am the other way,had dervs for last 15 years,so the petrol st is for weekends.actually surprised im averaging 25 mpg ,thought it would be around 20 mpg,and as tesc momentum is only £1.04.9 per litre its not so bad,and the noise is great with 3 inch downpipe decat and 4 inch cat back, along with a forge recirc valve, all miltek from turbo back.rs clutch fitted also, with stage 2 airtec ic and a good ebc brakes and red stuff ceramic pads setup.

That's a tidy setup! Heard today petrol has dropped below a pound! Obviously not the good stuff but it comes down as well ;)

Where've you been? Petrol has been under a quid / litre for weeks!

Diesel has only just dropped below a quid though.

Sorry got fuels mixed up  it's been a heavy Christmas haha I only fill up on BP ultimate or the shell v power diesel, shame that won't come down as quick :(

i wont put shell v power in my st,its a rip off still £1.20 a litre where i live, yet if i drive to tesco 16 miles away its 15p per litre cheaper, and as i do my shopping ther,i time it to fill up at same time, and save,so i get around £7 worth of fuel more, also its a more higher octane ie 99 ron compared to shell, shell claim to add more additives but they all add stuff,so screw you shell.keep ya v power and stick it where the sun dont shine.

Lol I've not tried tescos 99 yet, should be getting my 1 series back at the end of this month so when it's back I'll have to give them both a go, I agree with the £7 saving, a mate of mine runs the 99 with extra stuff that he puts in and it ends up around 107 octain, you can definitely feel the difference

It's been a while but thought I'd add in a bit.

Finally got the car running properly with a good service and a new pre ignition fuel pump, also did the golf t mod to the egr till I'm ready to blank it all off properly

I decided I wanted a set of my favourite wheelsc6249a8dd899f62167f46a0030a9080e.jpg

But as they're 7 series offsets I had a bit of rubbing, so I rolled the arches but this opened up a horrific sight

And that's just the passenger's side, thankfully I run a body shop as this would be on the scrapheap. Can't believe the state in which traders will sell cars :(

Jesus Christ that is a lot of rust. Makes me scared to check mine just incase it's the same! Love the wheels though, I love how clean they look in the photos compared to how dirty the car is [emoji4]

I just let my staff get on with it and came back when they shouted me to show the extent of the damage I just said crack on lol .. I'd just refurbished them and was going to clean the car but decided to repair the rusty arches 1st, silly idea that was
