muly
Mine had 18s from new as do alot of Bm's so that should not be a problem, as for the springs mine is lowered and the dealer said it would be best to at least put the rear standard springs back on just incase the bodyshop say anything, so i will be doing that on sunday as it only takes 20 mins

J555ONE
These are the plates that need to be welded in, They are £100 + p&p from the US. But I found a pdf which shows you where to cut and weld. So I'm going buy some sheet and make my own, and at the same time i will make templates Mr Moo
muly
Has yours gone aswell mate ? or are you just going to use the plates to strengthen it up
J555ONE
Not gone yet, just want to strengthen it up abit as it knocks when i change gear. Checked the bushes and they are fine so i think its the mounting points.
muly
if you have checked for cracks etc and it all seems fine, i would check the bushes that are on the propshaft there are 2 and are common 2 fail and cause knocking when changing gear the most common of the 2 is called the guibo, if you do a search on it, then have a look at yours it might be worn if you ever do get the subframe cracks its worth getting it done for free from bmw as they replace the whole rear section with a new one with stronger mounts

I don’t think BMW will replace it if it’s out of warrantee. And to be honest I need to replace the diff seals and polybush the subframe so I’d prefer do it myself.
