Any news m8 yet?

No mate not heard anything yet, i also email Bmw uk and they have not replied either, i really cant see how they can get out of it, the subframe fault has followed them from the e30 days, even a mates 400bhp 20yr old cossie does not pull its mounts out lol

Dirty tool- How long did it take before the dealers got back to you?

Mine had 18s from new as do alot of Bm's so that should not be a problem, as for the springs mine is lowered and the dealer said it would be best to at least put the rear standard springs back on just incase the bodyshop say anything, so i will be doing that on sunday as it only takes 20 mins

Well looked a right tit

Called Mot place to find out exactly what was noted, they never got back so went to John Clark

Service manager was nice as hell and put it on ramp to find nothing

He calls up mot station to find out it was the bushes that are splitting not the subframe cracking lol

Lowers car and goes off in huff

Well last update on mine got the car back today, and am very happy, job is spot on and Bmw have been great throughout the whole time, keeping me updated on the phone, it took 19 days from when i dropped it off to picking it back up, anyway this post just gives anyone in the future who may get this problem an idea of times/experience

if you have checked for cracks etc and it all seems fine, i would check the bushes that are on the propshaft there are 2 and are common 2 fail and cause knocking when changing gear the most common of the 2 is called the guibo, if you do a search on it, then have a look at yours it might be worn

if you ever do get the subframe cracks its worth getting it done for free from bmw as they replace the whole rear section with a new one with stronger mounts

Thanks, I have already looked into them and all seems fine. I don’t think BMW will replace it if it’s out of warrantee. And to be honest I need to replace the diff seals and polybush the subframe so I’d prefer do it myself.

mine is a 99 mate, i only removed the rear lowered springs, everything else was left on, and they were great thoughout the process, courtesy car etc, and kept me informed on the phone, mine had only just started very small crack about 10mm on passenger side, they even sent me a £50 voucher a few weeks ago lol

AAARRRRGH,for crying out loud.Heard this weird creaking sound from the rear passenger side today at low speeds so got it onto some ramps at my local Indy and was gutted too see that my subframe has started to rip away from the floor,I am truly upset. So what are my options guys.have sent BMW GB an email. What are the chances of them repairing this under warranty ?
