Bmw E46 Integrated Bluetooth And Voice Command For Less Than £65 Pictorial Diy

Recommended Posts

I am going to be doing this also, have the ck3000 evo all ready to install, just need the connects2.

What I want to know is I am using an aftermarket HU with a connects2 for steering controls, if i get the parrot connects2 aswell and plumb it it will it all still work!

I don't think so. You have to get a kit that is specific to the bluetooth answer/hang up/voice dial and mute radio functions

See the jury is out for me on this as I have put my ck3000 in and it mutes and works fine on the aftermarket HU yet just want the connects2 to enable the steering controls, I may just take the gamble and try it. I have now mailed connects to ask this question and awaitin a reply

Ok I have emailed connects and here is their reply.

Hi,

Im afraid that the design of the CTPPAR kits for BMW have recently changed. They did work with aftermarket head units, but im afraid that they will only work with origional equipment in the vehicle.

Thank you

So in fact their newer product has gone backwards rather than forwards which to me is stupid.

It seems that your phone is pairing well so it can't be the ck3000 Blue box module. But because mute-radio don't work and the steering wheel buttons don't work I have to advise:

  • Check your connections and make sure you have the little Parrot ck3000 controller knob/button connected to the ck3000 for the steering wheel buttons to work.
  • Make sure no wires behind the radio from the Connects2 module is being squished or cut.
  • Make sure you don't have any aftermarket parts in your car that maybe interfering with the kit.
  • Lastly, Make sure your phone is NOT the culprit as I've experienced in assisting others many times that it is usually eventually a problem or issue with the phone not pairing correctly or the phone LACKING full Bluetooth capabilities that enables the phone to pair well with the ck3000 and ctppar007.

its a normal nokia n95 and if it was the phone surely when i took the parrot kit to halford
it would not have worked properly?

Fastanstic guide Delmarco,

Installed this on my car yesterday, getting the centre vent out was a pain, but so much easier sorting the cables out once it was out.

Thanks

Jayse

Ok based on what I have found out above, you do have an OEM H/U ?

yes mate i have the oem buisness tape headunit

mmmmm. I wonder if that is why? Your unit is a Tape Unit.

But the Connects2 website clearly shows a Tape Unit on the product picture page.

Try returning/exchanging the Connect2 module. Maybe you got the one bad apple from the bunch.

Maybe mail connects2 about it, they do have a tech department and if you keep on they do respond in the end, so maybe well worth it, don't call them tho as its £1 per min

i have spoke to them and they have said it may be i dodgy unit and to return to the supplier

£1 a minute to call them is a rip off

unless you got the number to get in the back door ;):)

if anyone needs to call them i have the normal number and not the £1 a min

This might seem really stupid, but you did get the correct connects2 kit? The one recommended by delmarco and not the one that the website recommends?

My better half is gettin all the bits for me for crimbo :-D

Thought it was worth asking, I'm the kinda numpty who would buy the wrong one lol.

Here's hoping it's just a dodgy one...I don't want to have any problems when I set mine up.

Glad you seem to be getting it sorted out

There are 2 versions of the CTTPAR by connects2, you need to make sure you get the right one, the one in the write up is the 007 which is for people with 17pin round connector, I can't off the top off my head remeber the number for the other version for the flat pin connections, but make sure you check which you need for your car before buying because off this. Just my little tip from experiance :D yet how it connects and works is the same as far as I know.

As for this backdoor number to connects2 I am thinking this could prove something very handy, as on the emails its a nightmare and I am not paying £1.00 per min for advice on a product that costs so much :(

I'm definitely going to be installing this!! Great write up. Only question that I have is whether you can have a Dice Silverline connected at the same time?

George

Bump. I am hoping to order stuff tomorrow and hopefully I can get as much information before I do so. It would be great if I could run Dice and the Parrot/Connects2 together.

Thanks!

OK, I just called connects 2 and they confirmed that the Dice, CTPPAR007 and Parrot CK3000 Evolution can all coexist! Yeay!

For your information, the standard number to call Connects2 is 0121 522 5588.

I hope this helps someone.

George
